GETTING TO THE GOOD PART—Ch. 2
Bette didn’t really know what to say. When she came down to meet Peggy she didn’t expect the woman known as a shrewd business woman to be baring her soul. Bette could tell that Peggy loved her son very much and no doubt missed him terribly. She also understood that the art had significant personal value to Peggy, but Peggy’s explanation didn’t abate Bette’s inexplicable need to see the paintings again.
Bette decided to push that feeling down as she reached across placing her hand on top of Peggy’s in a gesture of kindness. “I’m so sorry Peggy no parent should have to live to see their child pass before their time.”
“No they shouldn’t…” Peggy took a big drink of her wine before directing her attention back on Bette.
“I asked you to join me for lunch so I could find out more about you and I end up telling you my story of woe…why don’t we talk about the upcoming exhibition do you have an artist lined up?”
“Well I did but it didn’t work out.”
“Who did you have in mind?”
“Alan Kellerman.” Although Bette was now wishing she could find a way to get Kennard to agree to display their work.
“Oh he’s good a bit pretentious I’ve actually had the misfortune of meeting him once he’s a despicable little snot.”
“Then I guess it was lucky that we couldn’t reschedule our meeting.” Bette was happy she dodged that bullet she had the misfortune of working on a show only to have the board shoot down her idea making her rebook the exhibition featuring another artist.
“I would say so. Bette if you need any help persuading a particular artist I’d be more than happy to aid you in any way possible.”
Bette jumped at the chance to further inquire about the artist she now wanted in her next exhibition.
“Peggy if you don’t mind me asking do you think that it might be possible that I can speak to Kennard perhaps if I…”
“Bette please don’t pursue this. You can have anyone else plus you’ll have the money to make it as extravagant as you want.” Peggy’s tone of voice was firm she didn’t want Bette to pursue this any further.

very good! the chemistry between B&T are incredible since the first time, Bette should try to talk to Tina again, thanks for the post
Any begining of B&T is always welcomed, and this one’s looking so good. Wonder why Tina is hiding that she’s an artist, but I’m sure Alice will find out.
Another wonderful story from you. I love how your brain works. Bette and Tina do seem to have a connection and Peggy saw it from the moment they laid eyes on one another. What will Bette think or feel when she finds out the artist that she wants to get to show her work is Tina? Great post and thanks for taking the time to post.
Toribio, this is just awesome! I know you said you didn’t know how far you’d go with this, but please, please, please, continue with this! This is such a great start! I loved their meeting and amazing connection. Of course, I LOVE “a helping hand…”, but if you could pursue both… Even if you don’t post too often… I mean, I really love this new story, please keep it up. Thanks very much!
Hmm… I thought Peggy just told Bette about how Tina’s parents weren’t happy with Tina’s sexual preference? And that she had paid Tina’s university tuition fees? Maybe I’ve mistaken again :P PPS… love this story and eager to see how it’s going to turn out :D
love ur new story with the twist! can’t wait for more! =)
This just keeps getting better. Thank you PPS I love it
i really liked B&T first meeting, the connection, the attraction, hopefully it will develop in something more
i just got all caught up i love this story pms
Hey Toribio, That was awesome. I lvoe all the intrigue in this mysterious take on Bette and Tina’s beginning. It is good to see that Peggy is still in charge of everything; the matriarch protecting her family and friends. The instant that Bette and Tina met there was a real sense that neithers life would ever be the same again. Alice;s confusion at Bette’s actions and admission on how Tina had affected er was brilliant. I could imagine Alice sitting there open mouthed at Bette’s statements. The whole idea of getting a picture or necklace from Tina and the Center was delicious. The connection between them was palpable. More please of this pleasurable and addictive read. Many thanks, Your Loyal Fan.
Another WONDERFUL story … hopefully you can post the next chapter of A Helping Hand and Neighbors.. THANK YOU.. hope the intership is going well!!
And the plot thickens… Ah, I love this story so much (you can’t tell, but I sung that). MORE SOON! Seriously, love it a lot.
