Dana was walking down the corridor trying to find Alice when she thought she heard someone sobbing. As she came up to a recess with a photocopier in she found Julie stood doing some copying. Dana said hello to her and she just said hello but didn’t turn around. Walking up behind her she placed her hand on her shoulder and leaned round to find Julie crying. Concerned, Dana asked Julie what was wrong and gently turned her around. She said it would be alright and not to cry. Julie broke down in tears and Dana hugged her. After a few minutes Dana asked her to tell her what was up, maybe she could help.

Julie looked at Dana and said that her and Sam had split up. Dana was shocked. She then proceeded to tell her what had happened the previous night. It was totally unexpected to Dana. She said she knew they were experiencing a few problems but nothing like that. Julie explained to Dana that she had had these feelings towards women for a long time but recently they had become a lot stronger and hard to disguise. She said about how Sam and her had been “making do” for a long time but she could no longer pretend to him or even herself. Dana stood there stunned at Julies` revelation. She then naively asked her why now.

At this point, Alice came almost walking on air down the same corridor, in a dream about last night, until she heard voices. Suddenly she stopped dead in her tracks and stood quietly round the corner. She felt like she ought to carry on but her curiosity got the better of her and she froze upon hearing Dana and Julies` voices.

Julie looked up at Dana and asked if she wanted to go for a drink later, maybe make it a date. Dana was so shocked, she had never seen it coming, but then she never did! She stammered slightly and Julie looked hurt. Julie said she should of guessed Dana wouldn’t be interested in her. Dana said it wasn’t that, she thought the world of her and loved her dearly to which Julie replied, don’t tell me, just as friends?
