    Gotta be somebody

Dana couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. She was warmed as the friends she knew since college still remember her favourite dish.

    “Thanks T.” Dana said.

“Nah just simple thing.” Tina answered.

“Hey T the lights are green now I need to move I’ll arrive at your place in an hour. Talk to you later.” Dana said as she switched the gear.

    “Ok see you.”

“See you.” With that both hung up and Dana stepped onto the accelerator pulling away from the traffic lights.

Tina grinned as the door opened to review her friend who she hadn’t seen for months.

“Dane!!” Dana almost fell from her track as Tina jumped onto her to embrace her tightly. This was Tina’s way to greet her. It never changed though years had passed.

“Hey T.” They pulled away grinning at each other. Tina looked at her up and down.

“Wow Dane you have toned up. How do you do that?” Tina wiggled her eyebrows.

Dana blushed before answered. “Well you know tennis and stuff.”

    “You still play tennis?”

“Yeah if I am not busy with my work.”

“Hey T you don’t want Dana to stand there all day, do you?” A voice interrupted them.

    “Bette!!”

Dana walked passed Tina and hugged Bette tightly.

    “Hey friend.” Bette said.

    “Hey Bette.”

They pulled away smiling at each other.

“This is for you.” Dana handed to her a bottle of wine she brought.

Bette took it from her and looked at the label.

“Wow, you got us Merlot, thanks pal” Bette swipe Dana’s arm. Dana just shrugged her shoulders.

“Come on let us go to the dining table now. Oh let me check on Alice she’s in the bathroom upstairs.” Tina walked up the stairs.

“Alice?” Dana raised her eyebrows at Bette.

“You know the hot colleague of Tina.” Bette winked at her.

“Oh.” Was all Dana could say.

As they were still chatting on their works and lives, they were interrupted by Tina.

    “Dane?”

Dana switched her gaze from Bette to Tina. She saw a beautiful person standing beside her.

Tina looked at the beautiful lady “Alice this is Dana Fairbanks, a friend of Bette and I since college.” Then Tina switched her gaze to Dana “Dane this is Alice Pieszecki, my colleague who has just moved from NY to LA.”

    1. Another excellent one-off, uhhuh! I feel for Dana – it is so easy to just let work become your life. Good thing Tina and Bette intervened to get her on track. Love this line “And Dana’s heart didn’t belong to her anymore from that day onwards.” – beautiful. The ending was great with the future so bright. Thanks so much!!
