Stop thinking about her! Tina told herself as she was getting dressed to go to a Benefits dinner and dance at the CAC. with Helena. It was a dinner party thrown by Phyllis, Bette’s boss, to raise money for the arts department. She had been looking at herself in the mirror, looking to see if her dress fit as it should, and had suddenly found herself wondering if Bette would like the dress, if she would find her attractive in it.With rare irritation, she whirled away from the mirror.She had to get Bette out of her mind.

It had been nearly two weeks since Bette had stormed out of her house, after believing that she had put a stop to her love making to take a call from Helena___only it wasn’t Helena. it was Alice, but before Tina could explain, Bette had stormed out.She hadn’t seen her since. She had sent Kit to get Angie to take her to karate lessons and when she had dropped Angie home, she had driven away before Tina had barely gotten the door opened. It was obvious that she was in a tizzy over nothing, because Bette hadn’t made any effort to see her.

It was just as well, because Tina was still confused over what had happened.___She had let a little attention from Bette go to her head.

Helena was almost always on time, so Tina Grabbed a jacket and headed down the stairs just as the doorbell rang.

Angie almost knocked her mom over in her hurry to get to the door. "Hi Aunty Kit, Angie squealed excitedly. "Guess It’s you and me tonight"

"Guess so, baby girl." Kit said,ruffling Angie’s hair. "Hey Tina", Kit said closing the door. Kit looked at her appreciatively. "I wonder who the lucky lady is tonight? I hope she appreciates the time you put into making yourself so beautiful." Kit said with a twinkle in her eyes.

Tina blushed at the thought of how close to the truth Kit’s words were.

"Why are your cheeks so red mom?" Which made Tina blush even more.

"I have to get out of here" Tina whispered, touching her cheeks.

"Saved by the bell" Kit said, as the doorbell chimed. And for the second time Angie raced to open the door. She let Helena in with a big smile.
