After a while Shane thought it was time and stood up… "i wanna show you something" she said pulling Carmen up slowly into a standing position…
"okay.." Carmen said slightly apprehensive… but knew she could trust Shane…
"fallow me.."and Carmen did… they walked down a hidden trail, that Carmen hadn’t notices was there, to the beach front in silence… letting the tide coming in wash over their feet…
About a half a mile away, they stopped under a well known Pier.. above them, they could hear the faint sounds of laughing and running… which was mostly drowned out by the continuous fair that resided at the end of the Pier.. Carmen looked at Shane for an explanation… but Shane however appeared to be somewhere else… in her head… and she was… it had been almost 7 years since the last time she had come here… and all the memories, she had for so long tried to forget came rushing back..
Carmen quietly watched as Shane let go of her hand and walked towards a small opening at the base of the Pier… slowly she fallowed not knowing what to expect… and then Shane lifted her hand, using the sleeve of her coat and began scrapping years of sand build up from the wall directly next to the opening… Slowly, a child like carving of letters spelling ‘Shane’s home’ where revealed.. and Shane took a step back.. giving Carmen a better view…. Carmen stepped forward and ran her fingers delicately over every letter…. she turned and looked at Shane as if to ask her something and Shane nodded…
"when i was younger, about 14, i got kicked out… and this Pier was my favorite place… I’ve always loved the sound of the faris wheel and the music… so.. i came here.. at first i thought DCF would come looking for me like they always did.. but they never did.. so i stayed here… for the longest time.. this place was my home…. " she sat in the sand and waved for Carmen to sit next to her. " i met Racheal… the girl from the video, you remember" she asked
"yes.."
" well i met her about a month after i had been living here.. she was 16 and when we met she introduced me to some other street kids around the area… she became like a sister to me.. and for the next couple years, we … lived here or at the shelters and she carved that, and told me, when ever i felt lost to come here and look at the letters and then I’d know where i was again….. after she was killed… i did what she told me and came here but i didn’t understand what Racheal meant because being here only made me feel empty, like i was missing something .. but now with you… i don’t feel lost or empty anymore… um.. i don’t know its hard to explain" she said looking down at her hands…. trying to clear her head…
"Shane.." Carmen said her tone light and comforting…
"i love you.." Carmen looked like she was going to interrupt "let me finish… the reason why i brought you here is… i wanted to show you that… um.. i may not be able to give you everything you deserve but i want to give you what i know i can… and this place… it a part of me… and now" she stood up and pulled out a small pocket knife… and carved ‘Carmen’ next to her name on the wall "now its a part of us.." she said placing the small knife back in her pocket and retaking her spot next to Carmen…
"Shane… i.." she said leaning in and placing a soft passionate kiss on Shane’s lips.. she didn’t know what to say or how to explain what she was feeling… so she did the only other thing she knew to do… show Shane through her actions… through a kiss… giving everything she had to silently tell Shane everything she couldn’t voice…

Aww….This is so sweet I can feel my teeth rotting…lmao. I loved it. You have me salivating for the next chapter. By the way, for future posting ‘fallowing’ is a word used in agriculture to mean ‘plowing and leaving land unseeded’. I think the word you want is ‘following’ which means in context ‘to come after or pursue’.Other than that, I loved the way you tied Shane’s back-story in the date and it helped to bring her closer to Carmen(if that’s possible). It’s also very believable circa season three, before the wedding fiasco. Oh and Alice is priceless! Like I said, I’m waiting for the next part…do I smell an NC17 coming?
