How to lose a girl in ten days-6

Bette felt five again with her dad staring at her. “Alice was mean to me” She mumbled. Everyone in the table laughed at Bette, who was acting like a five year old. Melvin looked at Bette. “I expected more of you” Melvin told Bette.

“Does that mean you don’t expect a lot from me?” Alice wondered.

“Hell no!” Melvin said shaking his head. Everyone laughed, except for Alice.

“Sorry Al.” Bette said quietly. “I shouldn’t have thrown the salt at you or say that.”

    “Thank you” Alice said.

“I should’ve remember you’re a moron and leave it at that.” Bette finished.

“BETTE!” Both Maxine and Melvin yelled, trying not to laugh.

“Yeah, got Momma and Papa defending me!” Alice said and stuck her tongue out.

Bette just rolled her eyes. “You’re just jealous cause M&M are at my side, get it?? M&M??” Alice said.

Bette Maxine and Melvin all raised their head at looked at the ceiling sighing.

“Well, I like it” Alice said, eating.

“I’m going to get the pancakes, honey help me.” Maxine said, she and Melvin got up.

Bette turned to Tina reaching her hand to embrace her. She put her hand on Tina’s shoulder caressing it. “Sorry,” She told Tina.

“It’s ok, I see Alice has a tendency to bring out your inner child” Tina teased.

“No, Alice had a tendency to piss off my inner child” Bette corrected.

“I heard that!” Alice said her mouth full of food.

“I wasn’t whispering” Bette said back, not looking at her.

Tina laughed. “Well I like your inner child” Tina said.

“Of course you do, maybe Bette’s inner child will come out and play with psycho Tina” Alice said for only Bette to hear. Bette kicked her beneath the table.

“What was that for?” Alice asked.

Bette glared at her. “Stop it” She hissed.

    “What’s wrong?” Tina asked.

Bette looked at her, “Alice’s head, screwed it up wrong, got the instruction in Germen so she never learned how to use it properly.”

    “Still heard that!” Alice said.

    “Still not whispering.” Bette answered.

    1. Just wanted to say i’m really loving this story, so much so that i had to go and watch How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days lol. I’m looking forward to the next chapter, keep up the great workJules

    2. Bette and Alice’s banter is hysterical! They are both acting like 5 year-olds. Her parents are great characters as well. Can’t wait for the next chappie…

    3. Oh the predicament they’ve gotten themselves in…are they going to come clean to one another???? Just wondering how on track with the movie you are going to go.

    4. Haven’t seen the movie, but loving your adaptation. Makes me want to rent it. Pscho Tina is too funny, but glad she took it down a couple of notches while at Bette’s parent’s house. Great read!!
