    I Wish CH 17

"So babe, couldn’t get a table? I’ll see if Kit can find us one okay?" As Bette started to walk away from the counter, she stroked her hand along Tina’s arm, letting the other woman know that Tina was hers.

"Uh, okay." A shocked Tina responded.

Tina turned to the stunned woman who sat beside her. She watched this stranger as she watched Bette walk away, and saw the effect Bette had inspired in her. Tina could sympathize, as Bette had that effect on many women. Including herself.

"Well thanks for keeping me company until my….uh, until Bette arrived."

"Um, sure yeah. Anytime." the smitten woman mumbled back at Tina. "Have a good dinner."

"Thanks." With that Tina started over to the table Bette had been able to procure.

Bette watched Tina approach the table. She knew Tina was tense and worried about her reaction to a few moments ago. It was written all over her face how scared she was of what Bette was thinking.

Bette got up and pulled out the chair for Tina.

"Here have  a seat before you fall down."

    "Thanks Bette. For everything."

    "No worries. You okay?"

"Uh, yeah. It was a little uncomfortable, but I am alright."

"Good. So, well, um, now that we have a table, um, would you like to stay for dinner? With me I mean."

Tina looked at Bette with shock on her face. She wasn’t able to say anything.

"Hey Tina, is that a no?"

    "Yes."

"Oh, um, okay, sorry." Bette started looking around frantically for the quickest exit, as she thought Tina didn’t want to be here with her. She started to get up from her chair..

"No Bette, wait. Please. I meant yes to having dinner with you."

Bette looked at the sincerity in Tina’s face, and slowly eased back into her seat. She smiled her mega watt smile, not realizing how devastating that smile was to Tina.

Tina stared at Bette. Not realizing how much she affected her.

"Tina? Are you sure you are okay?"

    Tina smiled back at Bette.

"I think so. This is just a little…I don’t know how to describe it."

"Yeah, I understand. I didn’t think we would be here either."

"Um, I guess I should explain about that woman at the counter."

"You don’t need to. I understand."

"I didn’t invite her to sit there."

    "Tina, it’s okay. I understand."

"Bette, really, I don’t know what you think was going on, but I…"

"T. It’s okay. You are a beautiful woman. Other people, women, and men, are going to find you very attractive. I understand. You didn’t ask for it, it just is. It’s okay."

Tina looked at Bette. Did she hear her right? Did Bette say she was beautiful?"

"I hope it was okay that I came over. It just kind of happened. I couldn’t really control it."

Bette looked at Tina sheepishly, a little embarrassed and hoping that Tina was okay with it.

"It was fine. I think she got the hint very quickly that I am not available."

At that, Tina looked directly into her dark eyes. She hoped that Bette could read the meaning in those words.

Bette masked the surprise that came with hearing Tina’s words. She knew how Tina felt. She just wasn’t sure if she was ready or able to open herself up to that again with her. But she also knew there was no one else for her.

"Well good, that is settled then. So what are you going to have?"

Tina couldn’t believe how quickly Bette could shut down like that. But she did realize why, and decided to let it go for tonight. Tonight she just wanted to enjoy some time with Bette that wasn’t hostile.

    1. Hey CDN! Sweet post!!! There’s nothing better than a gallant Bette and a shocked Tina; and yes, they do need to spend some time together with no hostility. It was great how Bette came to Tina’s “rescue.” It’s no wonder Tina was stunned with all the “babes” Bette threw her way. That would be enough to put me in shock! Great chapter! Thanks CDN! More please!

    2. I am glad that you are able to post more. This story is full of emotions on both parties and yearning that is within each woman is painful at times. At least they are coming to some understanding that there is no one else but the other woman for them.

    3. WOW…I love this…a quick turnabout and hopefully a turn in the right direction. I thought it was cute how Bette was driving up and down the street. More please.

    4. Hiya CDNGal, Good to see that old habits die hard as Bette is so protective of Tina and Angelica. The interloper really got a run for her money as Bette laid her cliam to her parnter and child. It is just a pity that Bette wasn’t able to build on it and tell Tina how she was really feeling. I can understand Tina’s disappointment at this and why she let it go. For now is what I would add because these women are two halves of the same soul and only together are they complete. It is torturous to see them making these baby steps towards one another but hopeful as the motion in towards each other and not part. CDN you have a wonderful lyrical flow to your words. Thank you so much for sharing them with me. Your Loyal Fan.
