    I Wish CH 20

"Mama." Angelica squealed and splashed as Bette approached them.

"There’s my girl." Bette eased into the water and swam toward Tina and the baby.

"She sure loves the water. She must get that from you."

"Hardly, I remember having to drag you out of here on more than one occasion Miss Kennard."

Both women stopped, and stared at each other. The memories of why, and what happened afterward at those moments caught up to both of them. They both blushed a little, and looked away from each other. Neither were sure how the other felt about those memories.

An hour later with Angelica tucked in for another nap, Tina and Bette sat on the chaise lounges and just enjoyed the warm afternoon.

"I guess I should get moving. Sitting here isn’t getting papers graded."

"Do you have to? Go I mean? I was hoping you could have dinner with us."

"Oh, I don’t know . I really should get some work done tonight. And there are still a few things I have to do around the condo."

"How come you don’t refer to your condo as home?"

"How come you have nothing in your bedroom except a dresser and some boxes?"

    "Touche, Dean Porter. You win."

"Seriously, why don’t you have anything in the bedroom? Where are you sleeping?"

"Maybe we shouldn’t get into this right now. You said you have stuff to do around your condo, maybe we can have dinner another time."

Tina got up and moved into the house. Bette watched her go, and decided that the stuff around her condo was not very important. But this conversation was.

She went into the house after Tina, and found her in the kitchen, cutting up chicken breast with tears trailing down her face.

Bette moved to her, and tentatively placed her hand on Tina’s shoulder. At this, Tina’s tears came forward in great masses, and she slumped into a crying heap. Bette placed her arm around Tina and pulled her into her. Holding her tightly against herself, she whispered, "It’s okay T. It’s okay. We’ll get through this, some how."

    1. Glad to see this post!!! I think it is time for Tina and Bette to REALLY TALK. Let it all hang out and put everything on the line for them and Angelica! PPS

    2. That wasn’t raw chicken Tina was cutting was it? (Yes, I’m a germophobic geek…) Really though, they’re going to have to start talking it out, all of it, and sooner rather than later. Hopefully Tina knows that there’s still hope there, and Bette lets herself open up. I’ve just caught up the last chapters, the story’s great cdn, and I’m looking forward to more of it. Thanks for the post.

    3. Happy to see this story back. YES, they need to talk and lay EVERYTHING out on the table. At this point, their lives and the happiness of themselves and their daughter is TOO important to hide their feelings. PPS :o)

    4. The walls of pain are slowly crumbling down. Now if only they can rebuild the walls of love. I am enjoying the direction that this story is taking.
