If You Never Say Anything to Me ch. 26

“Of all the people that I know, you are one who has always lived life as you thought you should live it. You haven’t worried about what the repercussions were so you didn’t set yourself up to be hurt. Bette, love hurts. Sometimes it just plain stinks. If Tina is the person who can make you happy and it sounds like she is, you have to put it out there and see what happens. If you get hurt in the process, that’s life. If you don’t put it out there, you can miss one of the best things that has ever happened to you. You usually retreat when things get rough or you don’t think you can control them. Talk to Tina. Tell her that you are falling in love with her and see where she is.”

“I don’t know if I can.” I had never felt so scared about anything. Being shot was something that I put into the hands of my fellow officers to rescue me and my doctors to heal me. The fear that I felt sitting here talking to Bob about baring my soul to Tina was so unfamiliar to me.

“Darling, it’s only scary for a minute. Put faith that you’ve read what’s going on between you two correctly and take the plunge. You’ll make yourself crazy trying to figure it all out when you can just ask her if she feels the same way about you as you do about her.” I knew he was right. I knew that I needed to talk to her about everything. I hated to think that we may not be on the same page but I wholeheartedly believed that what I was feeling was totally mutual. Bob and I talked for another half hour or so. I think as I moved the topic to other things, he was relieved that he had survived our discussion without the help of Mary. Hell, he had done a great job in my eyes.

I promised to keep him informed and also to call and talk to Mary soon although I believed that after he talked to her she would call me. I told him I loved him…which I did with everything that I am and hung up. He, as he usually was able to do, made me think yet made me feel better. He is such a great guy.

    1. In-love Bette is just… cute is maybe the wrong word to use, but it’s the only one I can think of right now. The chats with Bob and Kit, and the flowers and card… She’s adorable. I hope Tina’s also ready to share the “L” word with Bette. Thanks for the post, NAG. Cheers!

    7. Wow! What a charming update you had here for us. Thanks! It is so beautiful to hear Bette’s realization of falling for Tina and how scared she can be of telling her. The flowers and the basket were very thoughtful. We are eager to learn about their talk on such a romantic setting at the beach. Hmmm *smiling wide* PPS Lucero & Marsha (JC’s Salsa Aunties.)
