If You Never Say Anything to Me ch. 6

I went to the local craft store and bought some painting supplies. I hadn’t painted in years. Daddy had always said it was an expensive habit that had no return. He didn’t understand the need to express myself through different mediums so I let him convince me to give it up. Since I was doing things for myself, I got enough canvas, brushes and paints to last me awhile. I painted my first picture in years that night and it felt so natural. It felt like I had been finally been reunited with a long lost friend. After I finished, I sat there and analyzed it and surprisingly was still happy with it. It was simple. It was a sunset that I remembered from a trip that Alice and I had made to New Mexico. The time we spent there together had been great because we had both been pulled in so many different directions that we needed to reconnect. It was also great because it was just beautiful country. We hiked during the days and hit the bars at night. We were both very lucky during that trip. On one of our last night’s we were perched atop a mountain enjoying the sunset when I realized how incredible it really was. I had not really taken the time to enjoy them in the past and on top of that mountain without distractions, it was like a piece of art. I in turn made it a piece of art. I felt fulfilled for the first time in years. That night was the first time in at least 3 months that I didn’t drink myself to sleep and slept like a baby.

Wednesday rolled around like it did each week and I found myself standing in front of my closet looking for something to wear to my therapy session. Alice and I had talked again last night about opening up during the sessions and I knew that I had to. I was ready to. Whether I thought that I was falling in love with Tina Kennard or not, she was the best person to help me deal with everything else going on right now and I had to find a way to get past my developing feelings.

I settled on some low rise jeans, v neck sweater and some loafers. Today I wasn’t in the mood to be impressive. Today, I wanted to tackle some difficult topics. Today I wanted to start claiming my life back in full force.
