The doorbell rings.  It’s Shane with two 12 packs of beer.  (She puts the beer in a big washtub on the patio; it’s full of ice.  Tina uses it to keep the drinks cold.)  Just as Tina is about to close the front door, Alice and Dana beep the horn as they pull up to the house.  Tina waits at the door for the girls.  Alice brings two bottles of wine, and Dana brought a bowl of cut up fresh fruit.   Shane, Alice and Dana say to Tina,  “We love the house.”  Tina explains.  “I’ll take everyone on a tour later, I promise.”  Everyone congregates in the kitchen.

A few minutes later it’s the doorbell again. Tina asks Shane to answer the door for her.   When Shane answers the door she is immediately taken with the young dark haired Carmen.  Katie says, “Hi I’m Katie, Tina’s Assistant, and this is my roommate Carmen she’s a ‘D.J.’ Carmen is attracted to Shane immediately.  Carmen has a big plate of homemade tamales in her hands.  Shane says, “Carmen let me carry that for you.”  Carmen smiles.  Katie senses a love match.  Just as Katie is shutting the door, James is calling at the gate.  The gate was stuck.  Katie went to open it from the inside and let James in. “Hi I’m James, I’m Bette’s Assistant, and you must be Katie, Tina’s Assistant.  Bette told me you were pretty, but you’re a knock out.  Wow!”  Katie blushes and says, “Tina said you were a ‘Hunk of Burnin Love.”  After saying that Katie felt like such an idiot.  James was blushing too.  Katie and James smile at each other and walk into the house.  Tina is greeting everybody one by one, with a kiss on the cheek and a hug.

Everyone is asking where is Bette?  Tina says, “Bette’s had a pretty rough couple of nights.  So she’s trying to catch up on some much needed sleep.  I’ll check on her in a few minutes and see if she’s ready to make an appearance.”  Everyone starts to laugh and make rude comments about how Bette couldn’t keep up with the former straight girl!

Everyone is making their way to the patio through a walkway where sliding glass doors have disappeared into the wall; the dining room and den have been opened up to the outdoors.  Lush tropical plants and palm trees surround the patio that faces the Pacific Ocean.  The infinity swimming pool gives the allusion its part of the ocean. The sit-down conversation fire pit area is at the edge of the patio, and it’s great for intimate conversations.   The built-in barbeque area also has a refrigerator, and a four-burner cook top, and has its own umbrella, and a bar that will seat six comfortably.  Tina set up a buffet and condiment table right off the kitchen and near the three dining tables and chairs.  There is so much food on the table:  Chips & salsa, guacamole, veggies and dip, James secret sauce and his buffalo wings, tamales, cole slaw, corn on the cob, Kit’s homemade Chili, watermelon, bowl of fruit, and homemade ice cream in the freezer that Tina made this morning, and on the grill is hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken.
