Intuition Chapter 3

Alice’s nostrils flared as she considered her options, when it came down to it she didn’t really have any other than to comply to whatever Dana wanted right now and that was to sit down and be quiet.  “Still too bold for her own good I see”, Dana commented as she took another gulp of the cooling beer. Although she’d never admit it, her heart was racing. Only now was she feeling the consequences of firing that gun, what the fuck would have happened had she missed? The beer was to steady her nerves although it gave the appearance of a calm superiority over all members in her household. “Still acting before she thinks?” Alice shot back before she could help it. Dana just cocked her head to the side and took her feet off of the table, fearing that Alice had spotted the apprehension and doubt in her dancing pupils. “For someone who had the nerve to come back here you’re acting like a real asshole Alice”.  The blonde ‘s face took on an expression of slight hurt and guilt, Dana’s words could still sting and pull on her heart even after all this time. “I came back to see you”, there it was on the table; words rolling off her tongue like a runaway coin never to be recaptured.  Alice looked up, her painfully brown eyes staring intently back. Dana just sighed, “I don’t understand, why?” Alice opened her mouth only to shut it as the door was opened and she was interrupted by the burly Hispanic. “Sorry to disturb you but the system needs to be rebooted again”. Louis’ timing had been deliberate, after watching the interaction he was not about to let this self righteous bitch waltz her way back into Dana’s life only to reek havoc and leave without picking up any of the pieces again. He had made a promise to Mr Fairbanks to keep Dana safe and he was going to do so at all costs.
