Just The Girl 2.0 – Chapter Twenty Three (based loosely on HYD: Returns)

Bette averted her gaze and shifted her attention back to the ceiling before letting her lids drop closed. Friday was not only a big day for the PGC, it was also an important one for her on a more personal level. As early as now, she was already going through that day in her mind. On that fateful Friday afternoon, the contract will be signed by both parties; and immediately following the formalities would be a short press conference and then a celebratory dinner held by both companies to usher in the birth of the Porter-Grisham Regency Hotels. But, busy as it was, that was only the start of Bette’s day in her opinion.

After the festivities, the real event will start for her. Deciding to uphold her promise to Tina at the expense of her conscience, Bette’s veins would turn as cold as the ice in Aspen while she severed her friendship with Jill. The ice queen, that’s what she was going to become. The deal was signed and done, and with it, her personal relationship with the Grisham heiress too.

    Tina called it cutting ties.

Alice, jokingly, referred to it as “breaking up”. They weren’t a couple, yet Bette with her kid gloves was treating her relationship with Jill and the subsequent “cutting ties” as if they had an intimate relationship that transcended the safe and platonic realms of friendship. Breaking up. Alice used that term often, and as was the case with playful ribbing, it stuck. That term stayed with Bette; heck, it even haunted her dreams.

In her nightmare, she was not only friends with Jill – they were lovers. And when she was having – or trying to have, to be more precise – that “talk” with Jill, the redhead decided to drop the three-letter word bomb on her. No matter how much she tried to deny it, Jill’s last words in her dream rattled her to the core. To die after abandonment and betrayal was extreme; but didn’t they say that when a person you cherish leaves you, a part of you dies? There was no way she could leave Jill without killing a part of her right? And after going through hell and back, how much more emotional punishment can that girl take without being ripped into shreds completely?

    1. you made it so very worth the wait!and you gave a lovely blend of humor and drama surrounding Bette’s dilemma…no surprise that there is alot of gold inside that heart, but thank you for taking us on the journeyto Bette’s maturing!! And special thoughts for “…” still my favorites!!

    2. Yes it’s been a long time coming. But thanks for the chapter. I loved how Bette was finally about to work through her feeling and open up to Tina. She has grown. And I am glad that Tina chose to support her and not be selfish. That has to be a hard place to be when you sense someone is wanting your partner. Tina will has to gain own sense of self confidence to have peace about the situation.

    3. With the beautiful story, it is wroth the wait:) so glad Bette decided to stay by Jill & Tina supported her decision, pls post soon cos I can’t wait for the Snow, friends, love and saving.

    4. like i said before missed your story thank you for the update.you have to love tina.whenyou love someone with your whole heart you will do anything for them.tina has the biggest heart of them all.like thy say love will concer all.pps

    5. Tks for the update, I can’t say that I’m not worried about how Jill will effect their relationship. You are right though, Bette has matured and grown as a human being and she couldn’t do that to Jill. I only hope that she is also wise enough to eventually see that Jill is in love with her and they will eventually end their “friendship” it’s hard to stay friends when the one you love knows how you feel and they don’t feel the same. Can’t wait for another update!!!!

    6. Bette is more preoccupied with Jill’s feelings not of what It Jingles, and that hurts very much for Vat, I sinceramento wait that that is not going to give any more problems predict. So I am thinking what Jill’s father only is going to Carry out the contract in exchange for something more. Is it and Now It and Now It Has????? I hate drama please a little of novel, Bette is very distant of Vat.

    7. thank you for posting. i am constantly checking for updates from you. i love this story. bette made the right decision, hopefully tina will see past her insecurities and see bette only loves her.

    8. Yay…you’re back! I’m so behind in my fanfic reading, hence the late comment. Our little Bette is growing up for sure. I can’t believe this story is going to end soon. Sequel to the sequel…..maybe…possibly…pretty please?

    9. You’re back! I am so happy to see your chapter. I’m glad Bette did the right thing and I’m so proud of Tina. It was equally hard for the two of them. Thanks for the post!

    10. i have missed this… and i loved it… i know tina wouldn’t just run at the end… because she knows its true love… please don;t end this story… or at least tell us there will be part 3… lol…please…pps

    11. Thank you so much for posting this. Welcome back. I was crying like a baby. Both of our girls did a big step forward and outdid themselves. I can’ t wait for the next one.

    12. ALCHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read this earlier but didn’t have time to comment because I was supposed to be somewhere at that time. But I made the fatal mistake of checking in since I had five minutes to kill. I totally screwed myself and was an hour late, oh well no harm done, and they still love me. Thanks so much for posting been a long time, but well worth the wait. I was laughing my ass off from the hair thing and people kept asking me what was so funny because I kept picturing Bette as Amy Winehouse. I hope Tina has a change of heart toward Jill, I actually like the poor girl, and it’s your fault alchy. I just hope Jill can move on from there. Thanks for the post alchy, awesome.
