“A good father.” Melvin retorted. “A father who cares for his daughter’s well-being.” He narrowed his eyes and met the taller man’s glare.

“Well you have a funny way of showing just how you “care” for Bette.” Ken smiled bitterly as he eyed the briefcase whose contents were now properly arranged and put back in place. “Leave my home Porter.” He ordered. “And never show your face back here ever again.” He said through clenched jaws.

“You’re going to regret this..” Melvin warned as he started to walk towards the front door of the apartment, his lackeys following closely behind.

“Really?” Ken laughed mockingly. “The only thing I regret is wasting a good cup of coffee on you.” He shouted out as Melvin and his dogs left his apartment. Once the two Kennards were finally alone inside their home, Ken turned to his silent daughter.

“So you and Bette?” He lifted an eyebrow.

“Yeah..” Tina mumbled under her breath as she nodded her head up and down. Might as well come clean to her dad right now.

“She’s a good girl..” Ken stroked his chin absentmindedly. “It’s nice that she didn’t take after her asshole of a father..” He sighed.

She did, Tina smiled to herself, but she changed. “Umm.. are you mad at me because I’m gay daddy?” Tina asked in a small voice as she eyed her father nervously. She had wanted to come out a long time ago, but she never really had the guts to do it. It sucks that he had to know about it under these circumstances.

“Nope.” Ken smiled sincerely at his daughter. “I’m more disappointed that you didn’t tell me about you and Bette earlier..” He shrugged as he hugged his daughter tightly against his chest. “Would’ve been your number one supporter.” He teased as they shared a laugh.

“Thank you daddy.” Tina smiled as she held on to her teddy bear of a father. Bette wasn’t kidding when she said that Melvin was a big jerk. The two of them were lucky that at least one of their parents was in favor of their relationship.

“Five million, huh?” Ken shook his head to the side as he remembered Melvin’s ridiculous offer. All that money to separate their children? “Tina..” He whispered to his baby girl in his arms.

“Yes daddy?”

Ken pulled back as he looked at his daughter in the eyes. “Never settle for five million.” He narrowed his eyes. “Marry Bette Porter and get her billions..” He joked as Tina playfully pushed him away.

“Jeez Daddy!” Tina rolled her eyes as her father had a hearty laugh at her expense. “You’re as bad as Melvin Porter.” She teased as she walked towards the window and eyed the street below.

They were gone. Melvin Porter and his entourage had left the building.

“Find out some information about Kenneth Kennard. I want a report on my desk by tomorrow morning.”

“Yes sir.”

And Joyce?”

“Sir?”

“Set up a meeting with the headmistress of Redwind too.”

“Right away Mr. Porter.”
