Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 26A

“As I said, Doctor McPherson gave us permission.”

“He didn’t call me to tell me that.”

“It’s his house, he didn’t have to tell you and we asked that he not contact you.”

“Why?  Why?  Am I suspected of doing something?”

Pulling out his cell phone, Suarez regarded the receipt.  His eyes were trained on Stephanie, not letting up for a moment while he waited for his call to be answered.  “We’re looking for Angelica Kennard,” he told her.

“Tina’s baby?  Why?  You need to check with her grandmother.  I don’t babysit that kid.”

“This is Officer Raphael Suarez, Los Angeles Police Department, Badge No. 637.  I need to get in touch with the driver of Car 1472 as soon as possible.  Can you dispatch me?”  He paused.  “Yes, I’ll hold.”

He asked her, “When was the last time you saw Angelica Kennard?”

She was visibly shaken.  “Hell if I know.  This is just asinine.”

“Shut your mouth,” he said to her.  He couldn’t stand to be ignored or thought of as less intelligent by suspects, witnesses, or perps.  He didn’t know what she was, but he didn’t like her attitude and despised the falsehoods spewing from her mouth.

“I’m glad you said your dang badge number.  I’m going to make a complaint.”

“Free country.”  Suarez cleared his throat as he listened to the dispatcher explain the call to the taxi driver who had responded to the dispatch.  Finally, he said, “Yes, this is Officer Suarez on the line with you right now,” he said in confirmation of what the dispatcher had just told him.  “I’m calling to ask about a fare you dropped off less than an hour ago in the Hollywood Hills.”

Stephanie shook her head and rolled her eyes.  Her nostrils flared and her arms hung at her sides, her hands wrapped in tight fists.

“Uh-huh, I see.  And you picked her up from where?”

Stephanie sucked her teeth.  From in the kitchen, she could hear the police upstairs pulling out Henry’s large sweater drawers, tossing them on the floor, slamming closet doors.  She looked at Suarez.  “Are you lookin’ for Angelica cause if you are, don’t you think all that noise woulda woke her up?”

    1. ” I am so sorry for the long wait,…” – Well, they say ‘good things come to those who wait’, and that was certainly true in this case. Welcome Back, P!

    3. Well, I was gonna turn in to bed when I had this thought to sneak back on to my notebook to look for new posts and look what I found. Now I have something to wake up to later! Thank you!

    4. Again, an amazing story that we should have seen on the tv instead of the actual IC version. You are amazing, your writing is amazing. I would wait more that 4months for you to post, as long as you continue to give us more I would wait forever. I will be sitting on the edge of my seat until Saturday…and to think there is more to come, thank goodness. You have an amazing talent, I can only hope that you are in fact in the industry and are sharing this talent with a wider audience. And please don’t let anything happen to little Angelica. Thankyou very much for posting!!!

    5. I’m really glad you are back. Missed this story. I hope Bette can get Angie back. And I also hope with all that drama that Bette and Tina will in the futher have their life to normal back. And live happyly a long life together. It’s also time to get Stephanie out of the picture. Send her in a padded cell. Can’t wait of Saturday, when you post again.

    6. I love Peggy, sweeping in with her jet :). This was so worth the wait, but please don’t make us wait again to see what happens to Angelica. I’d almost feel bad for Stephanie if she weren’t so evil. At least Henry is starting to realize what he’s getting into. Also, I’m very concerned about Tina. Has she taken her meds yet? Thanks Portia, you never disappoint.
