Tina took a seat in the couch and tapped the seat next to her. Bette joined her. By the look in Tina’s face, Bette could tell she was nervous as hell.

“Tina, what is it? Is everything alright?”

Tina looked down. She didn’t know where or how to start. ‘Damn, this was such a bad idea!’. Bette lifted her chin so now she was facing her.

 “Tina, you know you can tell me anything, right?”

At this point, Bette was having a tough time thinking: 1^st, she wanted to be with Tima, it was the end of the plan, after all; 2nd, she was afraid she might be falling for one Ms. Tina Kennard who might A. Break Bette’s heart IF Bette fell for her and Tina eventually found out that being a lesbian is not her ‘thing’. And Bette knew she couldn’t afford fall in love again. She had only fell in love once, but unfortunately the girl broke Bette’s heart cheating on her and, since then(a very long time ago, back in college)she decided that love wasn’t worth all the pain, tears and especially the vulnerability. Thaat only exerience with Claudia made a big impact on Bette Porter’s life, and she wasn’t going to repeat the same story twice. That only time had been enough. She had exposed herself to the girl she loved, including the vulnerable side, and in return, she broke her heart. After that, Bette swore sh would nerver again show ANYONE tht part of her being, the human side, the vulnerable side.

That’s why she only had those one night stands, sh never allowed herself to commit or let alone feel something especial for other person. But now here was Tina Kennard, and it lead her to think B. Tina might get her heart broken when Bette crossed the time limit in her ‘relationships’. She liked Tina, so she didn’t want to see her hurt. It still hadn’t occured to Bette that there might be C. They could fll deeply madly in love with each other and they could have something they never thought thy wanted or needed, each other for a very long time.
