    Leap of Faith (Chapter 14)

Losing control happens without warning and, therefore, almost always leaves one without the ability to regain it for some time. It is in these moments, perhaps, when each of us is most vulnerable. Jenny Schecter never saw it coming. She could not believe what she was hearing. Carmen had just unceremoniously kicked her to the curb.

“You’re seriously doing this?” She was incredulous, but maintained some semblance of composure. “With Shane as you wingman, no less? Oh, this is rich.”

“If the lease was in your name, I’d move,” Carmen shot back. “Or if maybe even one stick of the furniture was yours…”

“All my stuff is in LA,” responded Jenny.

“If you mean your bed, dresser and mirror,” Shane interjected, “You should arrange to get that out of my house as soon as possible.”

    “But I pay rent…”

“You stopped like six months ago. Or have you forgotten?”

“I’ve been traveling.” The wind was knocked from Jenny’s sails.

    “That’s not my problem.”

“Well, then, what is your problem?” Jenny exploded as she realized that the situation would remain beyond her control. “Wait, are you two back together now?”

“No! But leave it to you to go there.” Shane was vehement. “You’re the problem Jenny. You and only you!”

“Shane,” Carmen tried to remind her of their plan to stay as reasoned as possible, no matter how Jenny tried to manipulate them.

“Stop, Carm,” Shane pulled her arm away and glared at Jenny. “Maybe she’s like this because everyone always bends over backwards to give poor, misunderstood Jennifer Schecter another chance. She’s such a confused and frail little waif after all.”

“What the fuck?” Jenny took a step backward, a wounded look on her face.

“You went too far Jen,” Carmen said quietly, “and there’s no coming back from it now.”

“This is about Dana and Alice?” Jenny recovered quickly. “”You can’t be serious.”

“As a heart attack,” answered Shane.

“It’s about so much more than that,” Carmen tried to parry the attack she knew was coming.

“Alice has always been so jealous,” Jenny tossed the first volley, “and you both know it.” This time Shane stuck with the plan and didn’t respond. She wondered if Jenny had really always been this predictable. “I know you’re both feeling sorry for her…”

    1. Woot! New chapter!! I think Jenny got what she deserved. I am glad Bette has such a good attorney. I like Kit/Riley/Beth together — they seem like a good support system for each other. I wish Lara would let Helena stay and support her. Hopefully she can find a way to do so long-distance. Gah! Another tough hit for Danish. Menopause is going to make her recovery from the recent blows so much more difficult. The framily is going to have it’s work cut out for them in helping get the girls though this. I love this story and adore your writing, SG. I’m sticking with you. And trying to dust off my hibernating writing skills… ;-D Thanks so much!!

    2. Good job as always Sammy! Poor Dana and Alice, I couldn’t imagin what They are going through and hope I never will. I feel so bad for Bette, but the way she is handing this is sooo cool. I would be ripping someones head off LOL. Beth needs to relax and trust Shane (even tho I understand why she is thinking this way. Shane is no angel). But trust is everything in a relationship. I am still giggling about Jenny,:) Great job as always, I just love this story and ur writing. U be the bestest!!!

    3. Well well well! I don’t come by here very often these days but what a wonderful surprise to see a favourite of mine posting an update to one of my favourite stories! I think I might pop in more often again, thanks :)
