The next morning Tina was woken up by a call, she looked at the clock it was just six o’clock.

She picked up the phone and answered quickly realizing that something was definitely wrong.

”Tina…”

”Hey Hel, what’s going on?”

”Bette has a high fever, I don’t want to scare you, but she told me to let you know or you would kill her!”

”fuck…” Tina put her hands in her hair ”give me time to call Monica and I’ll be there Hel!”

Half an hour later Tina crossed the threshold of the hospital, the sun had not yet risen, it was dark outside, and the cold settled into her bones.

Monica would take Angelica to the nursery and would pick her up in the evening, Tina would work until midnight.

Without even changing Tina went to Bette’s room going like a hurricane, Helena and Clarissa were there.

”Hey…” Tina came in and Bette opened her eyes slightly, she was on her side, the back of the bed completely raised, Bette was almost sitting.

”I know you’re not comfortable Bette… but the more time you spend lying down, the more your lungs will overload.” Helena told her softly.

The bedside light was the only one on, Bette didn’t say a word, she let herself be tossed around, Clarissa had taken some wet cloths and was administering an antipyretic.

”how long has she been like this?” Tina asked Clarissa as she stood next to her so she could get closer to the bed.

”about two hours, I waited for Dr. Peabody to start her 5 o’clock shift, she didn’t want me to call anyone in the early hours of the morning”

”because you need to rest, not think about my ailments…” Bette managed to say as she opened her eyes to Tina.

”hey, I’m here…” Tina said softly looking at her.

”I knew you would wake up shortly after the call…” Bette said softly.

Helena watched the exchange between the two, they were sweet and caring, they had feelings in them, and very big ones too.

While Helena was marking up some medications and taking her temperature, Tina sat down in the chair next to Bette, their faces level.
