Tina sighed ”what did you give her?”

”the most her body can handle…I hope it works”.

”Hey…” Bette caught Tina’s attention who was shocked and full of fear ”no one is going to die today” joked Bette and Tina laughed even though she didn’t want to.

”thanks for the reassurance.”

Tina met her gaze, her eyes shining from the high temperature, her lips chapped ”have you been drinking?”

”yes a little while ago…” Tina nodded staying next to the brunette but an emergency sounded on her pager.

”don’t ignore it!” Helena commanded

”I will.”

”no Tina answer damn it, I’ll take care of Bette here!” Helena was more severe this time.

Tina looked at her, she knew she was about to make a mistake, but she just wanted to stay close to Bette.

”Tina go…” Bette whispered ”I’ll be fine…”

Tina’s eyes filled with tears.

”I promise I’ll check on her every hour… I’m in the ward today, no surgeries.”

Tina remained still.

”I’ll let you know if it gets worse!”

Tina stared at Helena again and then stood up abruptly ”ok” she sighed, then looked at Bette ”do everything you’re told” she whispered and Bette smiled with her eyes closed.

”I’m warning you.” Helena reiterated as Tina left the room with her heart aching, she really didn’t know how she could concentrate for a whole day with Bette there like that.

Unfortunately for Tina the misfortunes did not end, she found herself in the operating room for the whole morning and as soon as she thought about Bette again a bike accident of an expert runner kept her for most of the afternoon.

Despite Helena having sent her reassuring messages, Tina had constantly asked Andrew for news who had replaced Clarissa.

Bette had made a fuss about eating, she had not touched food, but that was not what worried Tina, in the first 48 hours after the fever appeared it was normal to have no appetite.
