Life Before Mom and Tina CH5

    Previously:

Bette looked down at Jess and gave her a kiss on the forehead.

“Good morning honey.” Bette said “Did you have fun with Zoe last night?” hoping to move Jess’s attention to something other than the conversation she had just had with Alice.

“Yes, Did you?” Jess was not going to let her attention be diverted.

“I did.” Bette said realizing that they were going to have to have the conversation. She didn’t know that Jess had asked Zoe about dating the night before. She knew that mom dating meant that she was going to be spending less and less time with her and that if things went well Tina might move in and eventually she and mom might even get married. Jess had never had a problem with dad dating because she wasn’t around him that much and when she was he always made sure to spend every minute he could with her. But mom was different.

“Good!” Jess said then got out of the bed and went into the bathroom.

Bette heard the sarcastic tone in Jess’s voice and took a deep breath. She got up and went into the kitchen and turned the coffee pot on.

“What do you want to eat?” Bette asked Jess as she got a bowl down from the cabinet. “Cheerios or Corn Flakes?” Bette open the Fridge door and grabbed the carton of milk. Jess walked into the kitchen.

“Cheerios. Please.” Bette pulled the Cheerios box out of the cabinet and motion for Jess to sit down at the Table.

“Are you okay with me going out on dates?” Bette asked wanting to get this conversation over with quick. She poured the bowl half way with cereal. Jess reached in and grabbed a piece. Cheerios had always been her favorite. Jess shrugged her shoulders.

“Because if you aren’t I won’t go out with them any more.” Jess could tell that Bette was happy last night when she came in to tell her goodnight and she wanted her to happy.

“Do you like going out on dates?” Jess asked.

“I do.” Bette hoping that Jess’s curiosity meant she was going to ok with her dating just one person a lot. “The lady I went out with last night is really nice. I would like to go out with her again and maybe you would like to come next time.” This caught Jess’s attention she didn’t think that she would mind Bette dating if she got to go along with her.

    1. Whew! So far so good. And I’m actually glad Tina made the first move toward her eventual meeting with Jess. I just hope Jess doesn’t think she can always go out with Bette and Tina. But I think the beach trip was just the right setting. Can’t wait for more!
