“Could we go to the beach?” Jess asked with excitement she loved to go the beach and rarely got to go except when her Dad’s nephew took her sometimes. He was a professional surfer, and surfed all around the world. Bette smiled.

“Maybe. I will have to see.” Bette was glad that Jess was okay with the her dating.

The phone rang. Bette walked slowly and answered

“Hello.”

“Hi Bette Its Tina.” Bette smiled from ear to ear.

“Hi.”

“I was hoping I could see you today, and maybe meet Jessica.” Bette looked at Jess who was reading the comic on the back of the cereal box.

“That sounds great. What did you have in mind?”

“Whatever is good for you guys.”

“We were just talking about going to the beach. Would you like to join us?”

“I would love to.”

“We can pick you up in about an hour.”

“There is no need for you to drive all the way over here when you are closer. Why I don’t I meet you there.”

“Okay. We will meet you there at 11:30 and we will pick up lunch”

“No let me take care of lunch.”

“Okay we will see you after while.”

“Bye.”

“Bye” Bette looked over at Jess who was drinking the milk out of the bowl. When she put the bowl down she smiled with a milk mustache.

“Guess what” Bette said as she put the phone back on the base.

“What” Jess said, wiping the milk off her face with her sleeve.

“We are going to meet Tina at the Beach.” Bette knew the beach was the perfect place for Jess to meet Tina because it was neutral and Jess would never turn down a trip to the Beach.

“Yes.” Jess ran into her room and pulled out her favorite swim suit, and her beach toys from under the bed.

Bette picked up the phone, called Alice and told her not to come over, that they wouldn’t be there.

Bette could feel the butterflies building in her stomach. Jess turned the radio up so she could hear the new Madonna song on the radio. Madonna was her favorite musician because she had meet her when she was with her dad, a famous artist, last Christmas. Bette reached over and turned it back down.
