“Do you know her name?” She asked

“Yeah it is right here on the sign in sheet. Jess Porter.” Elizabeth said. “Why?”

“Because I have got to get that girl on my team.” The coach said as she watched the girls walk playfully across the open field.

The Next Day

The girls were practicing. They were playing starters versus the others.

“Holly who is that?” Lilly asked.

“It looks like Teresa the equestrian coach. I wonder what she is doing watching us practice.” Holly said.

“Do you know what the group 2 did yesterday during their free time?” Lilly asked.

“No.” She answered.

“I bet they went to the stables.” Lilly said.

“How do you know?” Holly asked.

“Because is not only a excellent softball player. She is also a very good rider. And if she saw Jess riding and especially jumping. Then she is going to try and steal Jess away from us. You watch.” Lilly said. After the third out they switched. Jess was batting 4^th so she came in and got ready to bat. Teresa walked up and sat in the stands. Lilly and Holly walked up to her.

“Hi Teresa.” Holly said.

“Hi.” She said back.

“What is going on?” Lilly asked.

“I just wanted to check out how the team was shaping up this year.” Teresa said.

“What do you think so far?” Holly asked.

“I think you have quite a player in your young catcher.” She said. Lilly looked at Holly. “How old is she, because she plays just as well as the older girls.”

“She’s 11.” Lilly answered.

“Really only 11, Wow.” Teresa said. Jess stepped up to the plate. The outfield backed up so that they were playing very deep. Kelly pitched the ball and Jess put it right in the hole in between center and right field. “Man she can hit to.” She continued as Jess rounded second base and then slide into third head first.

“Since when do you care about Softball?” Holly asked.

“I care about all of the Chasteen teams.” Teresa said.

“So you visit wouldn’t have anything to do with some of our girls spending their free time down at the stables would it?” Lilly said.
