Life With Teenagers Chapter 8

Tina: “I’ll go make us some tea… You go and see if he’s ok”
Bette: “Sounds like a plan” (Heading to Jay’s bedroom)
Bette: “Jay” (Knocking the door and going in)
(Jay is laying on his bed with and empty pill box next to him. Bette rushes over)
Bette: “JAY!!” (shaking him) “TINA!!! CALL AN AMBULANCE”
(Tina comes running in and is shocked by what she sees she runs towards the phone)
At The Hospital
(The paramedics are wheeling Jay in with Bette and Tina right behind them. They approach the Doctor)
Paramedic:” This is Jay Kennard Porter, he is 16 and has swallowed a bottle of pills, he has no medical history. These are his parents”
Doctor: “Hi I’m Doctor Matthews. Do you know what Jay has taken?”
Tina: “It looks like Paracetomal but we don’t know how many”
Doctor: “Ok (Turning to a nurse) can I get some blood samples please?”
Bette: “Is he going to be ok?”
Doctor: “We will do our best …. Nurse, can you show them to the waiting room please”
(The nurse takes Tina and Bette to the waiting room)
Waiting Room
(Tina starts to break down Bette pulls her into her arms and she herself breaks down)
Tina: “Why the hell did he do this Bette?”
Bette: “I don’t know T I really don’t know”
(Bette and Tina have been sitting for an hour in silence lost in there own thoughts when the doctor comes in. Bette and Tina stand up)
Bette: “How is he?”
Doctor: “He is ok he is awake the pills have done no long term damage. The hospital psychiatrist needs to speak to him”
Tina: “Can we see him please?”
Doctor: “Sure follow me”(Tina and Bette follow the doctor)
Jay’s room
(Jay is laying on the bed staring into space. Tina and Bette walk to each side of him)
Tina: “Sweetheart what’s going on?” (She takes Jay’s hand put he pulls it away)
Bette: “Sweetie we can’t help if we don’t know what’s going on”(Looking at Jay, he look’s away)
Tina: “Jay, please talk to us” (Jay doesn’t open his mouth. Tears are running down his face)
(The psychiatrist comes in)
Psychiatrist: “Hi I’m the hospital psychiatrist. Can I talk to Jay alone”(Jay looks straight at him)

It would be hard for me to stay off of a plane to Spain. They should have told Chloe when it happen Now they have two upset teenagers. That is bad. thanks

Great Story, but difficult to read at times. Sometimes death seems to be the only way out. Sometimes it is too dark inside and too hard to reach out for help. I hope that Jay is able to pull himself together and realizes that his love ones will always be there for him.
Great chapter, while I agree with the treatment. Since he DID open up and tell his parents what happened, I feel that he needs to be in contact with them in order for him to get thru this. It was a VERY BAD deciision for B&T to let their 2 teenage children to venture out into Spain (a foriegn country) by themselves. It doesn’t need to be coupled by a BAD decision here. They seem to have a close knit family and it will take some time for Jay to forgive them for this seperation, not to mention Chole. I know some=times as a parent you have to show tuff love, but not in this case.
I really have a problem with B&T leaving Spanish soil without addressing what was wrong with Jay especially on the helds of what happen with Chole and how they found out about. Jay needs help but he also needs the love and suppotr of his family. He should not be locked away from his family for a week with NO contact with them because he has already open up to them. Please continue.
Well, I see one of my guess’ sadly was correct. Hopefully as a family they will talk and get through this time in their lives. I also feel Tina and Bette needs to go back to Spain, for some justice.
Another comment-since he told them what happened to him, I see some commentors don’t feel that it was still necessary to leave him at the hospital with the therapist, but remember he tried to kill hinself he still needs help.

My first thought was correct then. :( Jay definitely needs help since this almost ate him up inside. I’m not sure I agree with B&T not telling Chloe until the next day though.
Sad ,poor Jay .It should be easy for the kids to talk totheir moms,they’ve got the coolest and kindestmoms in the world.Hope jay will be alright and Bette and Tina will get that bastard,do that to a kid who trust you what a world.post soon please i can’t wait to read the next
OMG this is serious stuff….but why all this BIG TIME drama, can’t we just have light drama…..Poor Jay, he is such a sweet boy – Bette is gonna kill that shop owner right?? More please….
