When she arrived at the Planet, Alice could barely find a park it was so busy. Desperate lesbians, she thought to herself. The Planet was going off, women were scattered everywhere like mice, intoxication of most of the patrons was obvious. ‘Hey Al! Al! Over here!’ Shane had spotted her, motioning to join the table. ‘Guys this is my friend Al, she will be taking part in this little speed date.’ Alice was welcomed by some familiar, some not so familiar faces. ‘Take your time Al, it’s just speed dating.’ ‘I know,’ Alice said, a little embarrassed. ‘Okay take your seats, you have 2 minutes with each partner and then we swap until your satisfied.’

Alice smirked at Shane, Is this satisfaction guaranteed?

Endless women had graced Alice’s table, none of which striking her fancy. One was searching for a woman to bare her child, one wanted company on her overseas trip to the middle east and a few just wanted down and dirty sex. There was nothing wrong with that of course, other than the fact that they were all most certainly Shane’s cast offs. This is so pointless, Alice thought.

Her next ‘date’ was a 40yr old police officer named Debbie. Debbie was all about being anti drugs, anti drinking, anti war – pretty much anti everything. Bored, severely, Alice’s attention diverted to the date commencing behind her.

‘I just enjoy doing random things, romantic things, even sleazy things, as long at it’s with the right person.’

Alice couldn’t help but listen, At least she’s honest.

‘But to tell you the truth I’m only doing this tonight because my friend dragged me along.’

I hear you honey.

‘Okay two minutes is up, switch. Alice closed her eyes, dreading her next partner. What would she be, a pregnant heterosexual looking for a drag king father?

‘Open your eyes Alice,’ It was Lara. I knew I recognised that voice!

A little embarrassed, Alice slowly opened her eyes.

‘You ditched me tonight for speed dating?’ Lara teased.

Alice blushed, warmth racing through her face.

‘No, Shane, she invited me.’

‘I know,’ Lara comforted her friend.

‘You do?’

‘Yes,’ Lara took Alice’s hand in her own. ‘I asked her to ring you.’

‘Why didn’t you just ring me?’ Alice found herself involuntarily flirting with Lara.

‘Because I though you’d just hang up.’ Lara looked a bit hurt.

Both women remained silent for a few very drawn out seconds. Their eyes piercing each other, the great ardour which danced between them was becoming undeniable.

‘Can we go back to your place, and can I have your attention for more than two minutes?’ Alice joked.

Lara pulled Alice in for a brief kiss, ‘You can have me all night, as long as you still want me in the morning.’

Alice laughed, running her fingers from Lara’s lips down to the plunge of her chest. ‘I’ll still want you, I still do don’t I?

‘Times up! Switch!’

‘Okay then, so when this is over, meet me out front?’ Lara smiled, ‘Absolutely’

‘Good luck,’ Lara winked at Alice, ‘I don’t need it.’

Alice smiled, watching Lara walk to the next table, she was so innocent and beautiful.

‘Hi, I’m Kym.’

‘Hi Kym, I’m Lara.’

‘Well Lara, how would you feel about getting pregnant and having my child?’

‘Alice!’ ‘Alice,’ Lara finally found her friend.

‘What is it, what’s wrong?’

‘Let’s just go home now,’ Lara was insistent.’

‘Okay, okay, are you alright?’

Lara wrapped her arms around Alice, ‘I’m too young to be the mother of another woman’s baby.’

Alice laughed, ‘Okay I’ll save you shall I?’

‘Please,’ Lara whispered, as she and Alice drove off into the night.
