Long and Winding Road chp 61
Bette arrived home just after 6:30 – she took the bunch of flowers out of the car and taking her briefcase with her she went inside. It was just a day before what would be a Thanksgiving holiday in the States but in England it was going to be just another Thursday.
They were planning a Thanksgiving celebration with just four people – Bette, Tina, Danny and Alice. Helena was lying on a beach in the West Indies with Ruth. Tina was planning for four people – only Bette knew that they would have a fifth person devouring the turkey and finishing everyone’s left overs — Shane was going to be their surprise guest.
It was also just a week before Bette’s big winter show. She was working hard – going into the office earlier and earlier so she could leave and spend precious quality time with her family. Danny was now five months old and so advanced that the nurse that had recently checked him over had guessed that he was 7 months old. Bette also craved time with Tina. Her wife had just over six weeks to go before the birth of their daughters.
She was tired but happy and enjoying the challenge of still working to find a studio she would run when her maternity leave was over . Though that did depend on getting Helena out of Ruth bed long enough to have her agree to the deal.
“Hey Tina – I’m home sweetheart “
Bette found Tina sitting on the sofa playing with Danny – she would never tired of seeing that sight. Her blonde lover looking so beautiful despite swollen ankles and all the same complaints that she knew so well because it was only half a year since she was just as huge and in a state of permanent discomfort.
“Hey Dan “
Dan turned and beamed at the sight of his mommy – Bette put the flowers and her briefcase down and lifted him from Tina’s arms and held him above her head and wiggled him – he giggled – just loving to be held like that

Is Helena for real? Did she really hire Shane to be Tina’s assistant? I hope so then at least Shane is in England with her family/friends. I really am going to hate for this story to end.

Ally, Gal you do know how to keep the love flowing. Great to see the kind and loving side of Bette appear when Tina told her about the realtor and her clumsy come-on. Alpha-Bette was still there and ready to tear the realtor’s head off but tempered by her concern for Tina and their unborn daughters. This meant that Bette was there to comfort Tina and demonstrate her love and admiration. The Thanksgiving surprise was wonderfully orchestrated. Tina’s response was awesome and well balanced by Shane’s quick delivery. Can’t wait for the games to begin. Bring it on and make this a Thanksgiving to remember.
