“You mean you don’t remember anything?”

“Well, I remember dancing with you and some chick came over and asked you to dance.  She was hot.”

“Yeah, she was.  Don’t you remember her from Katrina’s party?  Her name is Ariana.  She really likes you.  She asked me if you were faithful to your girlfriend.”

“Well what did you say?”

“I told her you were, as far as I knew.  She gave me her number to give to you.”

“I don’t need it, Erica.  Maybe you should go for it.”

“I think I will.”

“So?”

“So?”

“Did you get lucky or not?”

“Well I got a few numbers myself, but I did not go home with anyone.  We took a cab back and I helped you get ready for bed.  I tried to get you to drink water before you laid down but you refused.”

“Oh shit.  That’s why I feel so bad.  Damn.  Thanks for looking after me Erica.  I owe you one.”

2 weeks later:

Tina to Bette:

Later that day:

Tina was on her way out to go to the movies with Desi.  When her phone rings, she smiles at the picture of her baby.

“Hey babe.”

“Hi sexy.  What you doing?”

“I’m going to the movies with Desi.  She’s on her way to pick me up.”

“Oh ok.  Tell her I said hi.  What movie are you going to see?”

“Total Recall 2.”

“Cool.  Two hot babes, huh?  You miss me babe?”  Bette teased.

“Babe I always miss you.”

 “Aaw.  I love you so much T.”

“I love you too B.”

1 week later:

Bette is in the locker room after an away game.  The Cardinals won again and Bette did great.

“Way to hoop out there rookie.”  Katrina said as she does her usual and not so subtle appraisal of the specimen that is Bette Porter.  Bette knows Katrina wants her but she decided to ignore her gaze and continued to get dressed.  She tells herself that she will never act on anything with the blond so who cares if she looks.

“Thank Trina.   How’s Tonya doing?”  Bette asked looking in her directly in the eye.  Tonya was Katrina’s girlfriend who works for the airlines, so she travels a lot. 

Katrina is a little shocked that Bette is asking about her girlfriend.

“She’s in Detroit right now.  She’s coming this weekend to see us play against Baylor.  I think she may be crushing on Brittney a bit.”

“Is Griner gay?” Bette wondered.

“I don’t know, but she has a lot of female groupies.  Especially after winning the championship.”

“Yeah.  That second dunk was amazing to watch.”

“Are you kidding? Tonya must have watched that dunk 100 times on dvr.”

“Well Britney is the shit, gay or not. I considered playing there very seriously, mainly because I would get a chance to play with her.”

“Well I’m sure if anyone could entice her to play for our team, it would be you.  You are very sexy Bette.”  Katrina said moving closer to the brunette, invading her personal space. 

“Thanks Trina.  You’re ok, I guess.”  Bette answered smirking a little, not moving an inch.  She wants Katrina to know she is not affected by her charms.

“Just ok huh?  I think you may need a better look to make an accurate assessment of all I have to offer.”  Katrina said winking at Bette.

“For goodness sake, give it up already!”  Bette said exasperated.

“That’s what I should be saying to you.  Just give it up Bette.  I promise I won’t tell anyone.  Your little high school girlfriend will not find out.”

There were some players coming out of the shower, so Katrina moved out of the freshman’s personal space.  Slightly deterred but not completely. 

Bette ties her shoes and heads out of the gym.  She puts her ipod buds in her ears so she can’t hear incessant team mate, who is following her out to the team bus.  Bette is going home to visit in a week and that is all she is thinking about.
