Love in Control – Chapter VIII – Will You Marry Me?
Knock, knock, knock.
“You’re gonna want to get that.” The crackle of fresh newspaper being cracked open and folded in two followed the sound of a coffee cup being set down on its saucer.
Tina called out from the bathroom, “I’m still dripping from the shower, Bette. Do you mind?”
“Normally wouldn’t honey. But – whatever or whoever’s at the door is for you, I’m sure of it.”
Knock, knock, knock.
The blonde wrapped a towel around her hair, tossing over her shoulder as she pulled on one of the fluffy bathrobes hanging on hooks on the wall, “I swear when I proposed to you, I didn’t think I’d eventually be marrying a lazy sack o’bones …”
Bette chuckled from behind the paper, relaxed against a bank of feather pillows, legs half-covered, outstretched over the king-size bed. Naked. “Only on weekends, sweetheart. Otherwise, I bust my ass all week … um … I guess you do, too.”
That was meant as a teasing rejoinder, but Tina was still irritated, so shot Bette a look, hazel eyes flashing, as she belted the robe and walked past the bed. Still grumbling under her breath Tina padded over to the door.
Knock, knock, knock. “Yeah, I’m coming!” the blonde answered, loudly.
She peered into the spyhole and saw a jacketed man with a napkin draped over an arm , a trolley by his side, upon which several silver domes of assorted sizes covering dishes lay.
She opened the door a crack. “Is that breakfast?”
The waiter smiled at her obvious surprise. “Yes, ma’am. And this is for you, too.”
From behind his back, he produced a bouquet of pink roses, which he presented with appropriate flourish.
Tina pushed the door open wider, mouth dropped. “And there’s a card, too!” she exclaimed as she accepted the roses. “Honey, someone sent roses!”
“Was there a card?”
The man motioned to ask whether he could push the trolley in and set the breakfast up. Tina nodded, distracted as she held the roses closer to her face and took a deep breath to inhale a lungful of their delicate scent.
“Yes, there was.”
Tina carefully pulled out the small card tucked into the bouquet. Then she remembered as she followed the waiter in. Bette’s naked. “He’s setting up breakfast, babe.”

Nice, enjoyed it especially Tina and Bette in the beginning
I agree the beginning was a laugh with Bette and Tina????
Love it! loved the homage to his #purple majesty Prince!….”when doves cry…”great way to start the day! My thanks!
Oh, that was absolute worth the long wait!
Fantastic and sexy chapter, wouldn’t mind if you write more B&T in your story.
But Rian and Jade captured my heart, they are a great couple.
Thanks for the update!
You can be sure that yes, it was worth the wait
for another fantastic chapter!
My heart always Tibette, however Jade and Rian captivated me.
The whole universe
I’m with all the above especially wkm and Dee22 Tibette always.
Worth the wait, thanks.
Hello everyone. Thanks for taking the time to comment. A few caveats: the story arc for “Love In Control” will not have much Bette/Tina romance, although there will be occasional scenes. Their story is evolving in this book — the evolution will see them in a family unit, rather than as a couple. This particular arc started with scenes in earlier chapters, and will be more central in the next chapters. I think I’ve gone over their romance (exhaustively) in the other books already, anyway, and I really don’t have much more to say about “Tibette” than what I’ve already written in the other books.
I sense that it’s time that they evolve and mature in my stories, as characters, otherwise, their story arc will not make much sense if they remain struck in TiBette-land (at least in my storyline). To be perfectly honest, an evolving, maturing Bette/Tina, in the way I’ve been writing about them, is infinitely more interesting for me to write. I can sense them growing, and it seems to be as part of a family unit: this evolution is more authentic and important in this book than “TiBette.” it’s the other couples, in the meantime, who will be developing their own romances.
In the end this book is about a few kinds of love, what they mean, etc., but make no mistake the evolving Bette/Tina take on love remains the central/anchoring one for this book, particularly as things take a turn in the next chapters.
i may disappoint many of the readers who take the time to click through the pages of this story … I hope they will understand that I really can’t write a story if it’s not something I believe in or can stand behind, or would even want to read myself. I have moved on, and have explored the limits of that particular time in their lives through several books already, and so have the Bette and Tina characters in my storylines. They are different now from who they were in the TiBette version of the earlier books from who they seem to be growing into —
maybe I should re-classify this book to another fandom, different from “L Word” even if Bette and Tina and their family are central characters?
I seem to be raising expectations by slotting this book under “L Word.” And that’s not fair to you, the readers.
While Bette and Tina originally attracted me to your writing, your Jade/Rain and Aerin/Harley characters have captivated me. Their unexplored characters are ripe with endless plot lines. Don’t apologize for the lack of TiBette romance, as your other characters and your writing are rich enough to sustain my appetite for a romantic escape.
