I know she saw it because I was freaked when I got in the car.  She had to have seen it backwards and reversed it in her mind.  I stood frozen with my hand on the door handle.  She yelled to me to get in the car.  She was looking at me through my drivers side window.

Bette, theres no way we can prove that Faye Buckley wrote that unless someone saw her do it, no matter what we assume, but we may have to call Tina as a corroborating witness to the fact that it was there.   Will that be a problem?

I really didnt want to drag her into this.  We just had a baby and all this ***** has been happeningbut if its needed to help put Buckley away, Im sure Tina will do it.

They talked for about another 30 minutes or so.

Well, Bette, I think thats about it.  One other thing, you didnt suffer that injury to your arm from this attack, did you?

No, thats another horrid story of whats been happening in my life the past several weeks.

Bette didnt want to bring the whole Helena episode into this, but a report was filed and theres no reason to deny it.

So Bette told her everything that happened and from that Nancy was able to deduce there was no love lost between this Helena and Bette.  As a matter of fact this Helena was damn lucky charges werent pressed.

Is there any reason you know of that Helena Peabody would befriend or even know Faye Buckley?

Helena Peabody is, in my opinion, a despicable person but even she wouldnt find anything in common with Faye Buckley.

Nancy stood up and walked around her desk.  Bette, I think that covers everything.  If I have any further questions, is it all right to give you a call?

Sure, no problem.  You have my three numbers.

Im glad youve come through this, Bette, physically.  I promise to do my best to see that Faye Buckley answers through the courts for the harm shes done to you.  Ill be in touch to let you know when a trial date is set.

Nancy walked her to the door.  Mike was just packing up his stuff and said hed have the transcript of the interview ready tomorrow afternoon for her, and he left also.

With her usual tapping of her pencil on the legal pad when she was thinking, Nancy was reflecting on Bette Porters interview.  First, she was a stunning and well spoken woman and would make a striking presence on the witness stand.  She knew that Stan the Man was going to try to get before the jury time and again that Bette Porter was a *****.  He would try his best to pick jurors that he felt would not tolerate or find that lifestyle abhorrent.  You ask the right questions of jurors and you can always get enough info on their beliefs in certain areas.  Of course, the DA will have their own strategy in picking jurors.

One thing though, hes going to have a tough time in getting any juror, specifically male, to believe this beautiful woman was a *****.  She could wear it written across her chest, have a large L tattooed on her forehead and there are guys that just wont believe it.  In their minds Lesbians dont look like Bette Porter.   Her being a ***** should have absolutely nothing to do with why this victim was attacked, but its the kind of thing that perks up the ears of certain jurors and theres nothing you can do about what goes on in some peoples heads. 

Tap, tap, tap.then theres this other thing.  She drew two columns on her legal pad.  One column was titled Trial Witnesses; the other Possible Witnesses.

Contrary to what you think, Bette, she does have something in common with Faye Buckley.  Helena Peabody hates you as much as Buckley does.
