Love Revisited – Coming Home Part 57

Faye was in the car being driven home. Tomorrow the jury will make their decision. Who gives a flying *****? Nothing really matters anymore. I got to see the one person in my life that I really loved without question. She left me all those years ago. Today she walked out of my life again. I’ve been in my own prison for all these years – the new one will just have a different address.
The girls were standing outside the Courthouse. For some reason the media was not there – tomorrow will be their big day. They will all be waiting with bated breath for the jury’s verdict. Noticeably absent were the placard wielding, loud-mouthed, hate-mongers. This has not been a very good week for them. Their leader was exposed as a hypocrite in a public forum.
“Well, Bette, how do you feel? This was quite an experience for all of us to watch. I cannot begin to imagine what you’re feeling.” Shane asked.
Tina had her arms around Bette’s waist, letting her head lean on her shoulder. She could still feel that Bette was shaken up by today’s testimony from Kelly. She knew how it affected her because she didn’t even introduce her or the girls to Kelly. It wasn’t due to rudeness – she was overcome with so much emotion, not only for what happened to her but for what Kelly went through in exposing her past to total strangers. Since there was this incredible identical twin likeness, there seemed to be an instant bonding between the ‘twins’ and Bette felt Kelly’s pain even more. Besides the fact, when you see yourself walking towards you, it puts you in another world entirely.
“You know, Shane, I really don’t know how to feel. It’s a bag of mixed emotions. I do want the jury to find her guilty. She so deserves to have jail time, but I can’t help but feel some sadness along with that. Maybe that’s the difference between us and them – we don’t deny ourselves the feeling of love in whatever form it comes to us. What a horrible way to live your life.”

RC, there arent enough words to describe the magnitude of the intensity presented here. You captured FB’s soul wrenching destruction of herself; and in the end, I feel she took her fate like a coward – suicide.

That was great I am a little sad for faye but also pissed that she won’t go jail
Oh man alive, this was some chapter. So much sadness and hypocrisy abounds in FB and she took the coward’s way out of it all. Too bad that she thought that suicide was the only way out of the situation. If only she could have been honest with herself and taken the punishment that the jury was to mete out to her. She could have gotten over that with counseling and asked Kelley’s forgiveness and probably would have received it. Yes she made a mess out of her life and brought others into it as well and she has paid for it dearly. This was some story. Now where do we go from here and how does Nancy become involved in Bette’s life again. With Helena perhaps, Nancy will get to show Helena’s duplicity with Faye and the hatred that Helena harbours for Bette. I do not believe that Helena will leave Bette and Tina alone, she will continue until she hurts one or both of them including the child. The woman is SERIOUSLY EMOTIONALLY DISTURBED. I don’t know how I will be able to read the story because I just can not read anything hurtful about B & T. I understand that this is irrational but I only want to see them happy and in love. You did a wonderful job in telling this story.
A dignified end for Faye, at least she acknowledged herself at the end

BRAVO!! A 10 star ending to a 10 star courtroom drama. You captured Faye’s anquish and tortured mind perfectly – and taking her life was fitting since it is the coward’s way out…it is a sad ending to a wasted life, but fitting to those whose hypocrisy and self-hatred bring nothing but harm and hurt to others. You accomplished what every fine writer does in bringing all the pieces of the puzzle together. You also have an extreme talent of getting into the minds of the characters and letting us know exactly what’s going on inside their heads.
…but I see there’s still some pieces of the puzzle out there and it can only be with HellNO, right? Bring it on, rc. Let Nancy slam the crap out of her!

Kelly may not feel so guilt free once she learns of Faye’s suicide. And now what of Bette? Faye did not own up to hurting Bette.

That was both sad and beautiful. Sad that some many lives were tainted by a hatred, that was initially a love shared by two people. It was sad that Faye took that way out…and believed that was the “only” way out. Freedom from the prison she herself created years ago. RC..thanks for this amazing chapter. Please continue…Nancy will probably help Bette & Tina out with Helena.

Indeed there was no other way out for Faye other than to die by her own hands rather to suffer in jail even further. Now next one to get the long arm of justice would b Hell-ana. Tks for posting
I like very much the way you depicted Faye Buckey’s final tragic realization of the endless emptiness of the life she choiced to build, denying everything true and good to become the worst type of human being possible. It was a very sensible way to do that, far beyond what would have been so easy to do : to only show her as an incurable blind hateful bigot, even after Kelly’s painful statement.
And what a cruel irony to see this Christian fanatic committing the worst “sin” ever : suicide !
If only all these hopeless hateful bigots could know such a realization’s day long before it would be too late for us – and too late to avoid the evil.
Now whatever the way we all choice to consider Faye’s case, her last note was truly a heartbreaking one and it deeply touched me. Because it must be so awful to realize how much you wasted your own life, hurting everybody around you, making yourself a total failure and a monster. This note, in a way, is the hardest punishment this woman could ever have received.
Finally… My goodness, what a cliffhanger here !!! I hate you right now, because you just put a huge dilemma in my reader’s heart : to feel happy to know we’ll find this so engaging Nancy sooon – and at the same time feeling guilt to feel that way, because no doubt this welcomed come back should also let us know that our Bette will be in trouble again ! God, what are you doing to us, here ! (lol)

Wow, rc. Well Faye is gone, but I can’t help feeling sorry for her. I wouldn’t wish suicide on anyone. Her life was so full of sadness and lies. Thank you for this most poignant chapter. I hope that everyone was affected by this trial recovers and learns from Faye’s example. “Fate had already written for her future.…and in that script she and Bette Porter will once again cross paths.” Dun dun dun!!! I hope this doesn’t mean more trouble for Bette…well, at least not for a long while. ;)
