Meet Bette Porter The 30 Yr OLd Virgin(25a)

    Chapter Twenty-Five(a)

Living in Shawnee, Kansas did great things to Katherine Porter. Thanks to her loving and kindhearted younger half sister, Bette, she’s now a proud owner of a beautiful country style bungalow which was strategically near the magnificent Ambrosia Lake that boasted a gorgeous garden where she grew different kinds of flowers and vegetables.

The old Kit who was bitter, resentful and angry was gone; instead she’s now a vision of a happy, contented and fun-loving person. She had let go of the past and learned to forgive her father Melvin Porter but she wanted to start afresh, so she decided to use her mother’s last name Palmer, hence the name Katherine Palmer. Although the scars of her broken past were not that visible anymore, the memories of her missing son, Peter, still haunted her. There was never a single moment that she didn’t think of him, she prayed to God to give her another chance to see him and to hold him in her arms once more. She also hoped that the angels in heaven would keep Peter safe from harm.

Thinking about her lost son never failed to make her sad and so volunteering at Menoken Community Center somehow had become a therapy for her however being just a high school graduate she doubted herself at first if she had something to offer to the school. Kit was a gifted singer and knew how to play the piano and guitar so thru music she was able to help those kids who were musically inclined to hone their talents. She found joy in doing just that, it’s like for the first time in her life she found her purpose and that was to help enriching the lives of those less fortunate children.

She also met few but good people and formed friendship with them as well. Tina Kennard was one of them; she was a volunteered teacher at the center and was the one who assured Kit that despite her lack of education she still had something to give to the community center. In a short span of time, they became really good friends and Kit was especially delighted when she learned that the blonde was also her neighbor.

Kit even met Tina’s girlfriend Sam Makavejev and she thought that they made such a beautiful couple. She liked the resident doctor because not only she was nice, she could see in Sam’s eyes that she loved Tina, which was something that she couldn’t say the same when it comes to the blonde. It was never in Kit’s nature to judge someone’s character; she knew that the blonde had a good heart. However even though Tina wasn’t that in love or maybe not at all in love with the resident doctor she saw how Tina cared for Sam and the resident doctor was happy with her so who was she to question their relationship?

    1. Thanks for the posting. I feel bad for Bette as Love is such a fickled beast. Love isn’t an easy Mistress to trust that you’re with the right one. Sometimes its like trying on a coat to see if it fits. I guess the best approach is to go with the flow and be in the moment with the relationship. Learn about your self as much as possible so if it ends you’ll at least know yourself better. Sometimes its a reason or a season or a lifetime that you get to be with some people. Enjoy the dance.

    2. phacey I was just about to post part 1 of my epic chapter that seems to be growing into numerous pages when to my delight I say that you’d posted an update on my ‘favorite story’ so I’m took a break from writing to read it. I said a mouthful on the last chapter (probably one of those comments that overwhelmed you) so I’ll keep it light. Just don’t want to see Sarah being made out to be the bad guy which you already get the feeling because Bette is devastated, drinking and you end it with ‘Sarah left me’. I wish she’d said ‘I broke it off with Sarah’. Anyway I know I keep referencing the L Word similarities between this relationship and the Jodi/Bette relationship when Bette admitted she loved Tina but I can’t help it. Their breakup was probably the longest in history but there were a few scenes where my heart actually went out to Jodi, and those were the ones where Bette was feeling sorry for herself. I got that same feeling in regards to Sarah. Bette’s the one that caused the destruction of the relationship so don’t make her out to be the one that is devastated by it. OK I said I was going to keep it light … but I can’t be trusted so I will end my rant there. Thanks for the update my friend. I think you did an awesome job with the way you crafted the chapter. You gave us insight into Kit’s reasoning, you explained the plausibility of Tina not knowing that Bette and Kit are related and you’ve shown the beauty of the sister’s newfound relationship. Looking forward to part II.

    3. Phacey once again thanks for coming back with this story and just like BAT2012 this fic is a favorite story of mine. I’m happy with the way you developed Kit’s character, she’s now in the chapter of her life where she’s strong enough to be Bette’s rock esp now that Bette is going thru some emotional difficulties. I agree this story is hard to read but just like what you’ve said on the other site, sometimes love does hurt but I’m still holding you to your promise so I assure you sweetie that I will still stay around (-:Bring on part two!!!

    4. Great chapter. Really like this story. Going to withhold my judgment until I read the next chapter. But I am happy they have ended their relationship. Can hardly wait to find out “why.”
