    THIS STORY IS SOMEWHAT INFLUENCED BY SEASON 2 SPOILERS. Bette meets the baby.

    T, baby, are you awake? Bette asked, taking Tinas hand in hers once again.

    Mmmm. Yup. Just resting my eyes, she replied.

    Tina, do you think we could finish our conversation from earlier or are you too tired? asked Bette with a look on her face that silently announced how eager she was for an answer from Tina.

    Bette, I dont know, sighed Tina, her doubt evident on her face. I love you. Ill always love you, but

    A technician knocked loudly on the door and entered without waiting for a response. Christina Kennard?

    Shes not here right now, answered Tina with a serious face.

    Oh, do I have the wrong room? said the pretty young Asian woman with very long straight black hair that swung with every step she took. She looked down at the chart in her hands with a puzzled expression.

    Im sorry, thats me, said Tina sheepishly. Im just a bit tired of being me right now.

    Understandable. I know you just got settled here, but Im going to bring you down the hallway for a high-level ultrasound. Dr. Soodak wants to check on the baby.

    Cant you just wheel an ultrasound machine in here? questioned Bette in an exasperated tone.

    Normally we could, explained the young woman, but the doctor wants the best possible images, so we need the level 3 machine.

    Can I go with her? asked Bette quietly.

    If she wants you to.

    I do, said Tina, not letting go of Bettes hand.

    ***

    Everything looks good so far, said the doctor, rolling the ball of the transducer over Tinas abdomen. Babies this far along typically are very resilient to illness in the mom. If all goes well with your tests Tina, you could get out of here tomorrow or the next day.

    The doctor kept pressing into Tinas belly as Bette stared intently at the screen. See, her head is here, she pointed at the screen and here is her butt, and those are her feet.

    Thats why I feel so much movement right below my left ribcage, exclaimed Tina with a smile.

    And here is her face in profile, said Dr. Soodak.
