    The one where Tina talks about Bette and they continue to get used to being a family

    “Straight ?” Tina asked

    “As a ruler – but it wasn’t that. My sister is straight – I have lots of straight friends – its just that she was vain, vacuous and rude. I almost scaled my mouth drinking my coffee to get away from her. “

    They arrived at the coffee shop and Tina looked at Casey “You get a table – you want the same as the other day ?”

    “Please “

    Tina bought two coffees and walked to their table “ You want that extra cool ?”

    Casey laughed “ No thanks – I like you – Fiona was a nightmare and I really hope that Bella makes friends with him. I am just warning you “

    Tina removed her jacket and sat down – putting her blackberry beside her“You expecting a call ? maybe about a job “

    “No – force of habit – I am used to having to have it where its visible at all times. The only calls I get are from Bette “

    “No friends or family here ?”

    Tina sighed “ Bette and I had a close set of friends in LA – we were the centre of the group if you like and when Bette left it was hard for all of us in one way or another. Meeting Bette again divided us “

    “They think she is bad for you ?”

    Tina nodded

    “Is she ?”

    Tina laughed “Bette is and always will my only true love. “

    Casey nodded “And your friends don’t know that ?”

    Tina sighed “ Its hard to explain “

    Casey grinned “I’ll tell you about my life if you tell me about yours – fancy a pedicure this afternoon ?”

    “I’ll consider it “

    Casey stood up to remove her coat– she was taller than Tina and bulkier but she hide her size well behind smart tailored black trousers and a thick red shirt that showed off her curves,

    “Okay so tell me about you and Bette and why your friends don’t approve “

    “Bette left me suddenly after I found out she was having an affair. What she didn’t know when she left was that I was pregnant with Angie “

    Casey winched “ That’s hard for both of you “

    1. What a coincidence I just starting rereading this story this morning because I loved it so much so thanks for continuing it. By the way I love your writing and re-read your stories often. The way you continue to develop these STRONG yet vulnerable women is beautiful.

    3. Great one again, AllyE. Have thought since Tina lost out on the job that she wanted that it was helena being a bad ass and bad mouthing her that lost that job for her. The people were all set to hire her and after the LA interview they didn’t. Helena got wind of it and somehow scotched it for her. I thought that Bette should have talked to Peggy or called in some markers from friends to get that taken care of. Helena should not be allowed to get away with her actions just because Tina chose to be with Bette. Hope it can be turned around for her and they call her back to the job. Thanks for posting.
