Planet Terror: Ode to the Ones who Must Pass Their Exams

This took nearly an hour, and it was becoming dark when they figured out which rooms were clear.

“OH, fucking GROSS and WRONG!” Alice had opened one of the doors to find a half-dog, yapping and flipping about on the bed.

“Oh, I guess that was some research specimen that went off. It can’t hurt us anyway.” Bette laughed and pointed as the yappy zombie dog fell off the bed, flipping in a circle. It was fully in tact on one side, but it’s insides were fully exposed.  Its internal organs had been somehow glued in place so that they didn’t fall out as it spun madly, yapping and barking.

They laughed and watched the dog’s vain attempts at attacking them. Finally they quieted down.

“That was funny.” Bette said in a blasé voice. They shrugged and moved on, locking the zombie dog in.

“Well, we’ve got three rooms all clear. So that’s good.” Bette smirked. “Oh, except for Sarah, where should she sleep?”

They decided to send Alice and Lara to check on Sarah. They returned shortly, saying that Sarah had decided to stay with the helicopter. Shane and Jenny were still chill.

“Ok…” Bette glanced back toward the cafeteria again. She sighed, looking at the bags of peanuts and bottles of water in her hand. Helena shook her head slightly. “But you need food…” Bette mumbled. Helena shook her head again.  “Ok…” Bette began again. “We’ll shut ourselves in for the night. If the infected get inside, Sarah will have her door shut to the roof, so she’ll be fine. We won’t be surprised in our sleep—these doors are heavy enough to keep anything out.”

“What if they’re not.” Lara was starting to feel nervous. “I mean what if something gets in at us, and we can’t run up to the roof?”

Alice walked over, kicking the heavy metal doors and tapping the glass windows. She knocked the butt of her gun against the glass and turned to them again. “I think we’ll be fine. And if we have to take any of these things on, we’ll hold our own. These rooms aren’t sound proof…but thankfully, they’re far enough apart that we still shouldn’t hear Helena and Bette fucking for half the night.”

    1. I would wager that in the history of the universe the phrase “Tina’s deadness issue” has never appeared in print. As for “Jenny was totally out of it,” I’ve always maintained that human Jenny and zombie Jenny are one and the same. Will zombie Jenny adopt zombie dog? Loved the Bettie Page shout-out!

    2. it occurs to me that i did not explain this chapter very well. it is an homage to all of the bad crap in horror films…to Return of the Living Dead, one of my least favorites of all time, and to every other film where the protagonists don’t have any sense of priority or caution or intelligence. i should edit this and make the sex scene longer probably…ha!

    3. helebette, I think we all get the horror movie convention of nosing around in the wrong places: basement, attic, if its Phantasm you go play in the mausoleum. Its enough to make you think that the zombies aren’t the only brainless ones walking around. However, lengthening the sex scene(s) is never a bad idea.

    4. Aw … thank you :-D .. you make me want to listen to thriller. I knew they should have shot the researchers when they had the chance … can’t trust those kind of people *wink* .. Bette should have gone all trigger happy and taken them out … I’m always tempted to yell at them when they say they’ll be fine .. *sigh* mark of a good horror i suppose … more is coming soon yes?

    5. Those girls sure have some strange ideas. And an odd sense of priorities. Uh…nobody on guard duty knowing the wacky Mr. Blue and company have keys?

    6. Okay… I see no need for Tina to be un-undead… her brain was snacked on, yes? So let’s leave her off wandering the streets. There’s no place for her in this story, is there? If she’s about, you’d have to clean things up and I like everything being down and dirty with Hels and Bette. Did I really just say that? My TiBetting credentials are now mud. Anyhow, the chapter… I really, really, *really* hope that someone’s alert and has guns to the ready to mow down that blasted research crew. I do not like this turn of events *at all*. And you’re not posting til you get your abfab chap up? I’ll wanna read that too, but argh, I’m going to go spare with the waiting… Great stuff helebette, more soon, please…
