    School Night – Part Six

There were things that needed to be said, and done. Tina knew that. She just wasn’t quite sure how to say or do them. Tina and Bette had stayed up very late, or at least didn’t go to sleep until very late. Tina knew from experience that when Bette got an idea in her head she didn’t let it go until she had seen it right through until the end. Fortunately for Tina the idea that Bette had in her head was that they were going to make love all night, and they pretty much achieve it. It was only sheer exhaustion that prevented them from getting to their goal.

It had been late when they woke. Far later than either of them usually slept to. Tina closed her eyes and thought back to how, after cracking an eyelid open, she wriggled over to Bette’s side of the bed and cuddled up close to her. How things had changed from the other week when she was racked with doubt over whether she should be in Bette’s bed at all. Only not everything had changed. Shane was still there, lingering in the back of Tina’s mind.

Tina knew that Alice and Shane had been spending time together. In fact, Alice, Shane and Dana were becoming somewhat of a team. For some reason, the three of them seemed to fit together. It helped that Alice had found an ally in Shane in her pursuit to get Dana to come out. Between the two of them Tina was sure that Dana was going to find herself as the tennis, lesbian poster girl sooner than anyone thought.

That still left Shane though. Tina was going to have to accept that Shane was going to be a part of her life. Alice and Bette had known each other longer than either of them cared to remember so Tina knew that Alice wasn’t going anywhere, therefore, Shane wasn’t going anywhere soon either.

Tina leaned back in her chair. It was late. She had stayed at Bette’s all day, making love some more before getting up for breakfast. Tina laughed at herself. Who was she kidding? By the time she and Bette had gotten up it was more like lunch. Even though the weather had been good they decided to stay in, first swimming in the pool and then watching a movie. Tina remembered the look of surprise on Bette’s face when she said that she wanted to go home, and that she would see her tomorrow.

    1. A lot of insight, delivered in such sparse style, from Shane. I liked that Shane never actively pursued Tina, and let Tina draw her own conclusions, for the most part. I’m glad they settled what needed to be between them, I’m glad Tina’s come to her realisations, but more than that, I’m glad you’ve written such a good story, so… Thanks, CG.

    2. I soo love that someone’s finally taken the premise of a love struck Ani D. song and related it to this show. The fact that you chose School Night … one of my favorite Ani songs ever … makes it even better. Almost as good as seeing her do the song live back in Gelnside, PA, in 2005. Anyhoo, I’ve very much enjoyed your story. BTW, I have a good quality bootleg of that show w/that song, if you’re interested I’ll snail mail a copy to you … ski_bum_66@hotmail.com

    3. Hiya C-Gal, Thank you for this latest and I hope not latest chapter as I would love an epilogue of Tina truly committing to her adn Bette’s now and forever. It may be a rocky and rewarding road ahead make all the better for sharing it together. Shane was so typical in her realization of Tina’s intentions and questioning of her realtionship with Bette. perhaps there’s is a love for a parallel universe where Bette and Tina’s paths never cross. Just jumping for joy at this magical tale. I love it. Thank you so much for all your words and wisdom. Your Loyal Fan.

    4. Such a well written story, and such an interesting take on their group’s beginnings. I so enjoyed reading about Tina and Shane from this perspective. Thank you for writing and sharing.
