    School Night – Part Six

Tina felt that she had reaffirmed her relationship with Bette. Not just through the way that they had made love but the way that Bette had come to find her in her office. The way that they had spoken about what they needed to do get through. Tina had to admit that she needed Bette. There was no-one that she wanted more than Bette. Bette was the one for her, there was no doubt about that. She just needed to take care of one thing. To extinguish that one last doubt. Maybe this was the point. One last challenge before she could commit herself to Bette completely.

Tina got up and walked towards the kitchen. She took the bottle of wine that she had bought on the way home and opened it. She watched carefully as the deep red liquid entered the glass. Tina breathed in deeply, taking in the aroma of the wine, her mouth watering, knowing that it was going to be good. Tina smiled to herself. She knew that she couldn’t fool herself. She needed some Dutch courage before making the phone call that would settle everything.

Tina took the phone off the cradle and wandered into her bedroom. She sat on the one seat that she had in this room and looked out the window. She would miss this view. It was the reason why she had rented the apartment. When she had first moved to LA she would sit in this chair for hours at a time, partly reading bad scripts, partly looking out the window at the Los Angeles skyline. To Tina it was beautiful.

Tina took a big gulp of her wine and dialled the number. While she waited for the phone to connect she took a deep breath in. She knew that she had to be completely honest with herself before she could move on. She tried to convince herself of this little fact while the connection turned into ringing.

“Hey Tina, this is a pleasant surprise. I thought you’d fallen off the side of the earth.” said a deep voice coming from the other end of the line.

“No, nothing that dramatic. I’ve just had a few issues that I needed to deal with, and now I’m coming out of the other side. That’s why I’m calling really. I wanted to talk to you about something.” said Tina, feeling hesitant, not sure of what she was doing.

    1. A lot of insight, delivered in such sparse style, from Shane. I liked that Shane never actively pursued Tina, and let Tina draw her own conclusions, for the most part. I’m glad they settled what needed to be between them, I’m glad Tina’s come to her realisations, but more than that, I’m glad you’ve written such a good story, so… Thanks, CG.

    2. I soo love that someone’s finally taken the premise of a love struck Ani D. song and related it to this show. The fact that you chose School Night … one of my favorite Ani songs ever … makes it even better. Almost as good as seeing her do the song live back in Gelnside, PA, in 2005. Anyhoo, I’ve very much enjoyed your story. BTW, I have a good quality bootleg of that show w/that song, if you’re interested I’ll snail mail a copy to you … ski_bum_66@hotmail.com

    3. Hiya C-Gal, Thank you for this latest and I hope not latest chapter as I would love an epilogue of Tina truly committing to her adn Bette’s now and forever. It may be a rocky and rewarding road ahead make all the better for sharing it together. Shane was so typical in her realization of Tina’s intentions and questioning of her realtionship with Bette. perhaps there’s is a love for a parallel universe where Bette and Tina’s paths never cross. Just jumping for joy at this magical tale. I love it. Thank you so much for all your words and wisdom. Your Loyal Fan.

    4. Such a well written story, and such an interesting take on their group’s beginnings. I so enjoyed reading about Tina and Shane from this perspective. Thank you for writing and sharing.
