    She Said…She Said (2 of 2)

I am back from watching Kit record at the studio. I just put Angelica down for a nap and am sitting here having a cup of tea and staring out the window, thinking about what Bette said when she left. That I didn’t love her. That I was breaking up the family.

Maybe she forgets where I came from, a small town in North Carolina. I grew up in the suburbs with a mother who stayed home, a father who worked two jobs to support us, a brother, sister, dog and a white picket fence. That was my reality. That was my future.

I remember talking to Helena about it when she fell for Dylan. How difficult it was being a straight woman who grew up with that dream, the expectation of a husband and kids and a house. That is what I always thought my life would be until I met Bette.

Meeting Bette, kissing Bette, turned my whole world inside out and upside down. Those initial feelings were so intense, yet so terrifying. The falling in love part felt so good, but there was so much to wrap my head around. I want to say that love is just love regardless, but it comes with a lot of baggage depending on where you start from and where you arrive at.

I fell madly, passionately and completely in love with Bette. I gave up everything for her, including my family who disowned me. She was my family. It hurts when she says she was an “eight-and-a-half year aberration” or “some meaningless little dalliance in the land of alternative lifestyles.” She was my everything.

Until she cheated on me. After the sacrifices I had made -quitting my job, taking care of the household, carrying the child we lost – she betrayed me. She caused me such pain, such anguish, such a decimation of my self esteem I never thought I would recover. But eventually I did and I forgave her, but I don’t think I will ever forget.

When I came home to have Angelica, it was so wonderful, so magical. Bette was that same beautiful, strong, caring woman I fell in love with. She took care of me and made sure everything was organized in that alpha way she has. She helped as much as she could with the new baby. It was such a wonderful crazy time.

    1. That was great. Fresh voice. Well written. I look forward to much more. It is by chance that I was watching exactly the episodes you were referencing in these two chapters over the last two days. I noticed there were already two chapters posted and was so pleased that you went with both points of view. Tina was given short shrift in season three and I think they both had actions to answer for. Thank you for writing and please do continue to write much, much more! I don’t take time to read much – but I’m pleased to say this story was a unique take on the time frame in question. Okay. I’ll stop now. Peace to you…

    2. *JD*… I totally agree with Swimmie on this one. This chapter was a great read. You don’t have to change it from first person. I love how you’re writing it. I can’t wait to read more.

    3. As I commented before, excellent interpretations of the main characters. Clearly written and their feelings are well expressed. A very good read. Please continue.

    4. These two need a little role playing. If tinas attracted to men, bette can be her man. Bette needs to turn around, come home, dress in her old levis, a mens shirt, and some old leather boots, then strap it on for tina. She could sneak in the house at night and give tina the uncomplicated, gratuitous ride shes looking for, no emotional attachments, drama, or angst….sometimes someones just gotta back down from the situation. Wish they wouldve went that angle in the show but ultimately tina just wasnt ready to forgive and be thrown back into the tumultuous relationship they had built

    5. thought this masterpiece was surprisingly inspirational. there were a lot of disputes i found myself conflicting with on the show because you could see both points of views. needless to say thats why the show was so popular you read and saw between the lines what you wanted to. Great job and hope you write some more soon.

    6. It’s great that you are writing this story, have read both chapters and enjoyed that you have shown how both were feeling when that was going on. Of course, we never got that on the show and I always wanted to know just how they felt and what they were thinking. Thanks for showing us.

    7. I’d have to agree with swimmy as well. Your writing is well planned out and great to read on these two characters thoughts. Too bad that they didn’t share them with each other.
