“Sure.” Harper gets up from the couch to answer the front door. “Hey Bette!”

“Harper.” Bette smiles.

“Hey Bette!” Shane yells from the kitchen.

“Come in.” Harper says stepping aside.

“What’s up?” Shane says when Bette joins them in the kitchen. “How’s my little girl?”

Bette’s face lights up at the thought of her daughter. “She’s good.”

“How’s Tina?” Jenny asks from her perch on the counter.

“She’s anxious to get back to work.” Bette chuckles.

“She sounds like you.” Shane teases.

Bette gives her a comical dirty look. “So any way…” Bette starts, “I’m here to invite you all to our New Artists opening.” She puts the invitations on the kitchen table.

Jenny jumps off the counter, “When is it?”

“Next Friday. I hope you all can make it.”

“I’m free.” Shane looks at Harper.

“I’ll be there.” She smiles at Shane.

“I don’t have to work and I’ll find out if Carmen can make it.”

Jenny is inspecting the invite. “There are some amazing people showing.” She says excitedly.

“I’m really proud of this show, everyone in it is incredible.”

Harper looks at the invite, “You got Tara, that’s awesome! She’s great.”

“Your familiar with her work?” Bette asks.

“Yes very, she’s a friend of mine.”

“She’s not some hot ex who I’m going to be jealous of is she?” Shane wraps her arms around Harper from behind.

“No, she’s just a hot talented straight girl.”

“Phew.” Shane kisses her cheek.

Bette smiles at the cute couple, “I better get back to my family.” Her smile grows loving the sound of that.

Over the next week Shane and Harper find themselves both bogged down by work. Shane takes two music video gigs back to back which means she gets no sleep for four days. Harper is kept running by meetings, business proposals and budgets. She gets a little more sleep then Shane but not much.

By Friday both of them are ready to crawl into bed for the entire weekend.

“Where you at?” Shane speaks into her cell standing on Harper’s front stoop.

“Stuck in ***** bullshit westside traffic!!! Ugh!” Harper is pissed and frustrated.
