Bette hops into the shower rushing in and out. She hurries into a work outfit and then out the door. No time for coffee. This is going to be a long day.

She pulls up in front of the generic town homes. Bette shakes her head at how anyone can live in a place devoid of artistic value. Each building was the exact match of the home next to it. She was now completely sure of her first assessment of Eric, very obviously he was a fool who didn’t appreciate beauty in any form. Although she had not physically met Tina, she knew that Tina was the very definition of beauty.

She knocks on the door of what she hopes is Eric’s home. The door opens rapidly, as if he had been waiting for someone.

“Oh, who are you?” he asks.

“I am Bette. I am a friend of Tina’s. I have come for her things.”

Eric looks her up and down hesitating a little too long in certain areas. “I have never heard her mention you.”

“Do you know everything about Tina?” Bette doesn’t wait for his answer. “I have come to collect her earrings; you must know how much they mean to Tina.” Bette hopes he does because she has no idea. That was not something that Tina had divulged last night.

Eric nods, “Ya I know. I will go get them.” He turns closing the door in Bette’s face.

“Nice,” she mumbles to herself. She must give Tina some credit Eric was handsome by anyone standards. As far as Bette could see, that is were his assets end. Eric opens the door handing Bette a box of what appears to be Tina’s belongings. She looks up from the box catching a glimpse of a scantily clad woman. Bette meets Eric’s gaze, she doesn’t see any embarrassment or regret there. “You are a real ass, did you know that?”

“Excuse me?” Eric gives her a bewildered look.

“You heard me. I don’t understand what she saw in you. You wouldn’t know true beauty if it bit you. I wish you great happiness with your bimbo. Now if you don’t mind I have to go give these things to the most spectacular woman I have ever met. I wish that I could have the opportunity that you squandered. You are most defiantly a fool.”

    3. Well this short story was just too cute! Yes, I’m a sucker for cuteness. You definitely fooled me with the “Let’s do it” comment. Then I felt like a bonehead because I didn’t realize “window shopping” meant just that and wasn’t a euphemism for anything. lol

    4. Brilliant, Brilliant, BrilliantI am so captured by this whole concept with the IMs. I love your Bette taking charge and going after it. The way she just knew it was Tina also was fate. Soul mate kind of stuff. Great

    7. That was a great short story – so often the longer ones are just too intimidating for me to start. Thanks for taking the time to come up with such an innovative idea. Look forward to more.

    8. I went back and read the first chapter again before I read the final one. This story was just beautiful and gives me faith that when two people really love each other they can make a life together. I hope you can get back to your other story at some point soon. See I’m back to bugging you about your writing.

    9. Lordy Be! That was just so beautifully written that I could feel all of the emotions that were past from woman to woman. Just like ally said you should be on the writing team for the L word.
