    Bette and Tina share breakfast

    SOMETHING SO RIGHT

    Chapter Four

     

    Bette signalled for another pot of coffee and pushed the last of her bacon onto the last piece of her toast and ate it with a smile – that was the best breakfast she had eaten in a LONG time. Tina was just chewing her last piece of toast. When she washed it down she lent back

     

    “There is no way we can go on that run after that breakfast “

     

    “I did enjoy it – its been a long while since I had a good breakfast like that “

    “What do you normally eat ?”

     

    “Coffee and an apple “

    “Coffee and an apple ?”

     

    “I don’t always have the apple -I replace it with another coffee “

     

    Bette confessed “ What about you ?”

    “Organic muesli and blueberries “

     

    “Healthier than me “

     

    “That is my Monday to Friday breakfast – this is my Saturday breakfast and Sunday is usually a bacon sandwich in bed with the papers “

     

    “Now that is more my diet “

     

    Bette said looking at the blonde and smiling again. What was it about Tina that made her smile so much ? Bette considered herself to be a serious person- maybe too serious. But she had never met anyone who made her laugh as much. It wasn’t just that Tina made her smile – in a week they had shared so many belly laughs – it was a good feeling.

     

    “What’s your favourite comfort food ?” Tina asked after a few minutes. Bette liked that Tina often asked random questions that made her think and gave them something to talk about.

     

     

    “I have a sweet tooth “ Bette confessed “ When I am feeling at my lowest I head to the supermarket and buy the biggest cheese cake “

     

    “And do you have many low moments ?”

     

    Bette sniffed – at that moment the waitress appeared with the coffee that Bette had signalled for. They fell silent while their plates were cleared away and they were left with a fresh pot of coffee and their cups. Bette idly stirred her coffee even though she drank it black.

    14. Hey Ally, Can you see I’m jumping up and down with the excitement of more chapters from you. I am just loving this romantic and gentle tale. The dialogue between Bette and Tina was awesoem. Honesty poured from Bette as she tried to show Tina the real Bette Porter. These glimpses into Bette’s psyche are so telling. I’m not sure if Tina really appreciates this now.
