The Blinded Path of Love C.9 – Incorrigible

“Lisa, I am with someone now.” Shane grinned confidently at Lisa. She dragged a puff from her cigarette.

“The reformed Shane. How nice.” Lisa said bitterly, and with that, she swirled around exaggeratedly, causing her bob hairdo to dance around.

Shane didn’t want to part on a sour note, so she grabbed Lisa by the shoulder.

“Wait, Lisa, we could, ya’know, just be friends.” Shane said sincerely, she didn’t want to hurt anyone anymore.

Lisa turned and stared at Shane in disbelief.

“Shane. I want a *****, not a friend.” And then she headed out into the crowd. Shane stared after her for a moment before bursting out with laughter. It was laughter of freedom. Whatever she saw in that girl, she didn’t see anymore. She made a mental checklist of the girls she went out with and eliminated them one by one. Feeling more and more at ease and confident.

Carmen. Shane suddenly remembered Carmen was still in the DJ’s booth. She turned around and peered at her. Carmen was still spinning, bobbing her head to the music. But she wore a grim look on her face. She must have had witnessed all that. Shane’s smile dropped somewhat. But she held it in place. Everything would be solved. She could explain everything.

Shane took a last puff out of her cigarette before stubbing it out. She ordered another two beers and slowly made her way to the DJ’s booth. Staring the way she did, she was certain Carmen knew she was near, but Carmen did not acknowledge her.

Uh oh not good Shane. Shane made a mental note. She climbed up onto the raised platform and stood beside Carmen, offering her the beer she had in her hand. Carmen glanced at Shane and turned back to her console.

“Very bad.” Shane hissed under her breath. She looked around and found scraps of paper and a pen. She reached across the console and grabbed the stationary, annoying Carmen in the process. Carmen glared at Shane and turned sharply back to her CDs.

Shane ignored Carmen and started scribbling on the paper. She brought the paper to Carmen’s eye level, forcing Carmen to read it.
