The Canvas of Our Life…Ch 8

Shane and Bette drove away separately while Alice offered Dana a ride.

“So Dane, you wanna be my non-date tonight?”

    “Whatever happened to Abby?”

“It’s Gabby, you know it’s Gabby. And I told you we’re taking a break.”

“Sorry Gabby. Well anyhow, are you telling me you don’t have some other hot little number lined up?”

    “Just you Dana.”

“Awww, that sweet. Alright, I guess I’ll be you’re date if you insist. What time will you be picking me up? And hey, do I get dinner or anything first? I’m no cheap date ya know.”

“Tennis Players are such a pain in the *****!” Alice replied rolling her eyes.

    “HEY!”

“Alright, alright. How about I pick you up at 7pm and we’ll go to the Planet for dinner first?”

    “7:15pm.”

    Alice looks at Dana questioningly

“A girl needs time to impress”

The women share a laugh as Alice drives Dana home.

“See you tonight,” Dana yells as she exits the car.

“Yeah, alright sweet cheeks, go put ya self together and look hot for me tonight huh? Alice replies in her best ganster impression.

    Back at Tina’s.

Tina walked Josie to the door and hugged her goodbye.

“Tina if you need anything at all. Don’t hesitate to call me ok? Ohand you better call me in the morning first thing. I want to hear all about it.!”

As Tina closed the door her head started swimming again. She headed directly to her closet to find something to wear. She looked at the clock and realized that she had several hours before 8 and decided that if she got ready too early she would go crazy waiting for 8 o’clock to come. She decided to make a phone call. She hadn’t talked to her Dad in days and she suddenly felt the need to hear his voice. She picked up the phone and dialed his number

    “Hello?”

    “Dad?”

“TINA! Hey babe how are ya?”

“I’m doing alright Dad, better now that I’m talking to you. How are you?”

“Oh, you know same old same old. Tearing up the town as usual.”

“Oh Dad, you never change. How’s work?”

“Well I actually haven’t been to work in 2 days. My back’s been acting up again. I went to that quack again and he finally decided that he may need to do something more than just prescribing pain killers for me.”
