The Gathering 01.55 – The Gathering ReDux – Pt. 3

“No, not really.  I mean not to have it out or anything.  I just don’t think there is anything to say.”  Tina sighed, pouring them both another glass of wine.

“After years of being together, there is nothing to say?  I find that hard to believe.”  Marina’s accent accentuate each word, for some reason Tina paid more attention as she spoke to her, than when someone like Alice spoke about Bette.

“I know that things had been hard, with losing the baby to me going back to work suddenly.  I think Bette hated that she wasn’t the center of attention anymore, and had to fend for herself.  The passion had bled out of our relationship a while back.”  Tina admitted, shrugging and fighting away the tears.

“That goes both ways, she might have felt like you were ignoring her, or wanting your job more than you wanted her.  I’m not defending what she did, I’m just thinking there are three sides to a story.”  Tina bit her lip, thinking.

“Three?”  Marina laughed, setting the glass down on the table, and taking Tina‘s hand.

“Your side, her side and the whole story.”

Dana walked up to Alice‘s door and knocked.  She waited with a serious look on her pretty face.  She felt her emotions in total turmoil, she’d never acted so brazenly as she had when she’d attacked, kissed, whatever you called it, Alice.

“Hi.”  Alice said, pulling open the door and letting her in.  Dana swallowed and stepped into the apartment.

“Before you say anything, I want to say that I’m sorry for not talking to you today, you left before I could.  I didn’t hear you get up and leave this morning.  You really…  Stunned me last night.”  Dana nodded, sitting down on the couch, defeated.

“I think we should stick to being just friends Al.”  Dana stated softly, finally looking at Alice.  Alice gasped softly, unsure what to say or how to react.

“Oh.”  She sat down next to Dana, wanting to push her back onto the over stuffed couch and kiss her from head to toe.

“I don’t think I can handle this right now.”  Alice nodded, still in shock.

“I found out today that I’m nationally ranked, my performance in the last month allowed me to get the last slot at Wimbledon.”

Jenny was at the check out, scanning various groceries.  It was amazing the things people bought, she sometimes saw patterns.  She played small games in her head to keep her occupied as the day sometimes drug on.  She pushed the deli slices passed the scanner and the throaty voice of Shane said.

“Careful with that young lady.”  Jenny looked up and laughed,

“Hi Shane.  Long time no see.  How are you feeling?”  Shane nodded, having gotten the cast off that morning.

“Really good, now if I can find a job.”  Jenny gave her the final amount and Shane paid, taking the three bags and saying.

“You should come by tonight, I’m staying with Tina and we are having a get together.  A house warming, ‘Oh No Shane Lives Here’ party.  Bring Robin with you, it will be fun.”  Jenny‘s smile broadened, nodding.

                “I think we’ll do that.”
