The Gathering 01.62 – The Gathering ReDux – Pt. 10

“So you got us jobs?”  Marina asked, feeling the walls closing, memories flooding her suddenly and un-wantonly.  Sam looked shocked and utterly stunned.  Jenny squeezed her hand and Marina felt some comfort from the warmth touch.

“***** no, Amazon status darling.  I did the bee thing, and I find that being an Amazon is much more fun, since you can still do what you want, when you want, with who you want if you’re an Amazon.  You being one of the tallest, most gorgeous Amazon’s I’ve ever seen.”  Sam grinned, grabbing a strawberry and walking over to Marina.  She leaned in and started feeding it to her, Marina bit into the sweet fruit and tried not to smile.  Marina studied her as she chewed on the fresh ripe fruit.  A stark departure from the always assiduous facade she put up.

“Wow.”  Tina grunted, Sam‘s eyes flashed at the flare of envy from Tina.

“We are supposed to let loose, I mean, I think we’ve all had a lot of drama going on.  I thought it might be a good way of doing it.  You can leave at anytime.  My plane is always ready to go, so it’s not like you are trapped there or anything like that, I swear.”  Sam stated, moving back to her former position, leaning on the door jam, looking over the group.

“Your plane?”  Bette questioned, Tina gave her a look.  Wondering why Bette was being so confrontational.  There was an edge to Bette‘s voice.  Candace put her hand on Bette‘s, trying to calm her down.  She’d heard about what had happened at her house a few weeks before and what had happened to Shane.

“Bette, you can’t always be in charge.  Would you relax?”  Candace whispered, and Bette paled.  It was something that Candace had said to her also on many occasions.

“She’s asking a valid question.  Yeah, it’s my plane, in theory.”  Tina grabbed Sam‘s hand and pulled her timidly towards the couch.  Sam sat down, not letting Tina‘s action go unnoticed in her mind.  “I have a little bit of money.”  Admitted Sam reluctantly, not what she’d been expecting to be discussing when she’d announced the plan of action.
