Tina smiles and strokes Ella’s brow
“I want my sister to be happy and I really don’t care who that person is “
“Even if it is Alice ?”
“I know you all think I am a bitch to Alice. Firstly – you are right – I am because she’s been vile to me. Second – my sister isn’t 21 yet. When I was her age I was at college having a great time “
“Trust me – Lucy has a good time “
“I don’t know Bette – maybe I just haven’t spent enough time with them “
“So lets get them down for a couple of days “
“Maybe – Bette – I want this next fortnight to be about the three of us. You are going to be back at your desk in three weeks – I want you to get to know Ella “
“I am getting to know her – and we are getting used to being parents. I just don’t think that there is anything wrong with sharing Ella with our families “
Tina nods – I see how vulnerable she still is and that physically she is a long way from recovered
“Want to put her in her crib and go for a lie down ?”
She nods and I go across and take Ella from her
“Come on angel – lets see how well you sleep when you are here. This is your room now in our home – this is where you are going to grow up “
Tina gets up and wraps her arms around me
“Along with a brother and another sister maybe “
I turn and hug her “Not until we get this one up and running around “

We watch until Ella is settled in her crib and sleeping – I take hold of Tina’s hand and lead her to our room. Even though its September the weather is very warm so I open a window and join Tina on our bed. She snuggles up to me and I stroke her forearm
“You are banned from the kitchen “
“What ?”
“You heard me – I am going to take charge of the cooking “
“Bette “
“No – you are going to do as you are told for once. I am going to take charge of the house and you are going to devote yourself to getting stronger . You cannot fool me Tina – you are tired and not yourself “
“Okay “
The fact that she doesn’t argue with me means that she really isn’t very strong. I cuddle her and she rests against my body and in a few minutes she is fast asleep. I lie against her for about an hour until I feel hungry and decide that if I am really going to take charge of the cooking for the two of us. Maybe this is a good time to start practicing simple meals that I can cook for Ella when she is old enough – maybe I can do some research while we are relaxing and enjoying our daughter.
I potter around downstairs for about ten minutes and head into my office to check the fax machine – I take the top three sheets off the top from a pile –
Oh God – we don’t need this – Tina doesn’t need this
Despite promising Tina that I was going to stay away from work I pick up the phone and get through to Shane
“Hey – its me – yeah – they are fantastic – I take it you sent me this ? — you should have rung me- I know but this is a family matter – where is she ? – what does CJ and Henry say – I know we shouldn’t be bothered about this rag but I get the feeling that Tina and Emma and Tom are not going to think that its nothing “
I pull my chair round and sit down to talk tactics. As I am waiting for Shane to get CJ and Henry I look at the fax sheet and shudder at what Tina is going to say when she sees this headline

hey funnyone and seahurst, i dont know what a love rat is either or piles. ive known of moms like tina, drive me nuts. thank god i wasnt a worry wort. tina needs to get over herself with the alice and lucy thing. thanks, have a good weekend.

Hey Ally! Another great post from a truly gifted writer. I’m sooo glad you didn’t hear the horror story regarding the umbilical cord cutting prior to baby Ella’s delivery! That would not have been a good turn of events, especially with Bette’s “blood issues.” From what you said in your Author’s Note, maybe they should ban grandmothers from cutting umbilical cords, as it was supposed to have been a grandmother that cut off the baby’s toe – the story sounds like an urban myth to me. Bette banning Tina from the kitchen and saying she is going to take charge of everything cracks me up! Didn’t she just tell Tina that she placed an official order of prepared meals from Emma? LOL!!! I guess POTUS is taking official charge of the microwave! Oh and don’t forget about the dishwasher too! LOL!! I nearly burned down my office building making microwave popcorn once, so I have lost all of my advice giving privileges when it comes to kitchen duty! Ally I have finally figured out what piles are – luckily Webster’s New World Dictionary of the American Language included what I was looking for in their definition of “piles.” Unfortunately there was no listing for “love rat,” so I’m hoping that your next chapter will explain that “term of endearment.” It seems to me that Alice and Lucy are moving too fast…they have only been dating for a couple of months, haven’t they? I don’t have a problem with the age thing, but they should take their time and get to know one another better before getting engaged. Maybe they will have a long engagement and that will give them some time. Thanks again Ally! Hope you have a great weekend!
AllyE, Happy Birthday from one Scorpio to another. Aren’t we wonderful? lol. What in the world is a “love rat?” Is that British for slut-puppy? Piles are homorrhoids (sp).

Our opinion is that “Love Rat” is: head over heals in love with someone. You know “Love Rating”. Although it’s true that Lucy is young, when you’re hit by the love “bug”, you’re done. No “rational” thinking hits your senses. And “piles” are indeed hemorrhoids and it is caused by giving child birth. It is absolutely true and it is very painful! Lucero & Marsha

yay! yupie!!! I’m first!!Great update Ally! I’m almost the same age as Lucy and to tell you the true marriage at this moment is the last thing on my mind!! I hope she knows what she is doing. I mean, for Alice is normal to want what Bette and Shane have, but maybe Lucy is still in cloud nine with this new love and she doesn’t realise what she is getting into. Besides at this age is easy to find everything perfect and right. I hope B or T talk a little more with her and find out if she is really ready for engage. Dont know about a love rat,doesnt sound good tho. Piles is a old-fashion name for Hemorrhoids,,often hAPPYA DURING CHILD BIRTH FROM HARD PUSHING AND A TISSUE WILL BECOME SWOLLEN AND COME OUT THE REtum .Very painfully to set or walk. Love that Bette is so sweet and loveable to Tina and loves the baby so very much. she will be a good Mother. thanks
what’s a love rat? Piles are hemorrhoids which are like grapes in your bum (sorry to be so blatant but I don’t know how else to describe them) and lots of pregnant woman get them and never lose them. I hope T does. Bette is so wonderful to T and Ella; and yes Tina needs a giant rest so 3 weeks is great. Let Shane or whoever deal to the trivia in the news.
BTW I don’t trust Alice for a minute; she’s just copying Bette and how convenient she got Lucy…

UH,OH! Tina’s so not gonna be happy about that. She also needs to relax, you gotta love first time Mom’s. Amazing how Bette has turned out to be the calmer one. Lets hope it wasn’t Alice you said anything, maybe Jodi made some stupid statement.
Tina needs to get a chill pill concerning Alice and her sister, not everything is about her. ALice has been trying to be good , but Tina doesn’t give an inch. It is not only Alice fault it got be this way, Tina needs to realize that it was her doing too. I actually like Alice and Lucy, they balance each other out.
I am not sure, but I think the piles are like or the same as hemorodes and maybe “love rat” maybe impling that she is a nempho. Happy bithday Ally and I hope that it’s a GREAT one for you. As you know I am more with Tina than Bette on the Lucy and Alice issue. Not that she doesn’t care for Lucy, but I think the underling factor for Alice is that she is jealous of what Bette and Shane have. Since they have all come up or along together since the days that Bette was in the Senate, Alice never pictured herself as “the third man out”. They all probably thought that Shane would be the last to settle down. Alice really wants the samething and while it is quite natural to have this reaction, a younger and less experienced Lucy is probably not the soultion. I don’t think that Lucy is ready for either marriage or motherhood. What’s up with Leigh? I am worried about her being missing in action.
Hey Ally, That was adorable. Tina fussing over Angelica ans her own appearance was just so typical of a new mom. Bette handled in perfectly; calming the situation right down and gently prodding Tina in the right direction and then emphasizing her attractiveness. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And wow, does Bette behold Tina. What more could be sweeter than seeing your lover feeding your newborn baby. Absolute bliss. A heavenly sight. Then on to Alice and Lucy. Tina is still very reluctant to welcome Alice into the family. Is this residual dislike froim their past battles or does Tina really think that Alice is purely using Lucy. Interesting times ahead as the Scandal has begun. I do hold Bette sorts things out quickly and gets to the source of this disquiet. As always you fairly carry me along on your sea of words. I have been rocked and rolled but the life vest is intact and providing ample safety. Thank you so much for continuing this awesome adventure. Your Loyal Fan.
