The Power Of Love 

Alice was done and they could identify the man as Vic Texas. He had a wife, a son and a daughter. Tina and Bette had gone over to them and questioned them. The woman sounded untrue when she said she would never hurt her husband but they didn’t have any prove. It was devastating to see the kids break down in sobs. They were only 12 and 14. Tina could see that it hurt Bette.

Bette thought back at when she had found out her parents were gone. She was sitting on a couch with her sister, just like those two kids. They didn’t find their parents and were left alone. They knew they had to go to a foster family and they couldn’t tell anyone their real names… She would never be Joy Keenan again. From now on, she was Bette Porter. Dad had asked her to do that so she would. She was sure, that these kids’ Dad hadn’t asked them to do that but this scene she saw was very familiar.

They walked out of the house and Tina looked at Bette.

“Are you okay, Bette?”

Bette looked at Tina and smiled a little. “Why wouldn’t I be?”

“You looked a little… sad in there.”

“Why wouldn’t I be? Uh, those kids just lost their Dad.” Bette said, she had heard people say that when they saw a scene like that. Her reason of sadness was more egoistic.

Tina chuckled. “They say that you were a woman without emotion.”

Bette sighed. Little did Tina know. She was a woman full of emotion but she just want able to express it. “They say so much…” Bette told her eventually. The brunette couldn’t help looking sad. Tina felt bad for her and lays her hand on Bette’s shoulder.

“They’ll be fine. They still have their Mother.” She said, trying to make her partner feel better. Bette looked at her and couldn’t help to smile.

“Yeah, thanks.” She said, they walked to the car and drove back to the Jeffersonian.

They had resolved the case of Vic Texas. The mother had been cheating on her man but didn’t want to leave her husband. Her lover had killed him by slamming a steel pipe on his head. After that, the mother had helped Vic to dump the body in the woods.
