The Letter ch. 3
The Letter
Chapter 3
I woke up so excited. Today was my birthday and tomorrow we leave for camp. Everything good is happening. I jumped out of bed. It is really funny that on a school day Momma is threatening me within an inch of my life to get up but during the summer, I jump right up and am ready to start the day. Lyss was already in the bathroom so I ran to Momma’s room and knocked. She told me to come in and I ran over to her and jumped in her bed. She just laughed, pulled me into a hug and kissed me. She wished me a Happy Birthday. I hugged and kissed her back. Lyss came in and joined us and we lay there holding one another. It was the best way to start the day.
Momma finally told us that if we wanted to do all we needed to do, we had to get up. Both Lyss and I went to our rooms and got dressed. When we came downstairs, Momma was out in the garden cutting some flowers. She always told us that Mom had the green thumb. She tried for awhile to keep the garden up but she’s right. She doesn’t have a green thumb. Mr. Richardson does a great job and Momma just has to write the check.
We went to the cemetery and visited with Mom for a while. There were already flowers there and since they were lilies tied to a Smurf doll, we knew Aunt Alice had been here recently. She and Mom had been best friends since they were kids and she is who introduced her to Momma. She didn’t talk too much about Mom though. Momma says that she just misses her so much that it’s hard for her to talk about her. Momma cleaned up some debris and we all sat down and talked to Mom about school ending and camp. It was always good to come here. I didn’t make me sad because I felt just a little closer to Mom when we visited her. It was probably weird for me to feel that way but Momma always said to take comfort where you can and I felt comfort in being near Mom.

Even if Bette dosen’t meet Tina in this story I will love to read it , it brings a lot of memories back to me that are sad but it lets me relive them without feeling like I am going to lose control and be left in despair. It is helping me work through some things I should have a long time ago. Thank you. PPS
You absolutely continue to amaze me with your incredible storytelling. Your talent with words and dialogue is so good. I love all of your stories and thank you for posting so soon.
I am so crying right now…Tina will be perfect for this family that I am growing to love.
Awesome. PPS!
I don’t think I’ve cried as hard while reading a fan fic since Jobadge’s “Those Adoring Eyes”. This is such a wonderful story. I am looking forward to reading all of your future posts. Thanks!
NAG, you sure know how to bring on the tears. I haven’t stopped shedding tears until just now. I read the into and all the chapters straight through and cried thru each one of them. Jeez. The story is so beautiful but yet so sad at the same time. The letters are so on point for a young girl. That is something a mother should do whether she still lives or has passed on for her children. Such a wonderful thing to do. This story should be your book to be published, you have an awesome talent. I do love the way you think and write. Hopefully Tina will meet Bette in this story and even if she doesn’t this will be one whale of a story. You’re awewsome lady. Thanks for sharing. Post when you can.
NAG, between ‘WOO’ and this story, I have gone through lots of Kleenex boxes. My eyes stay crimson when you are writing. This chapter is amazing. It really struck a nerve and brought back my personal loss as a young child. The 12 year letter is heart breaking, yet beautiful. Trisha’s love for Bette has set the bar. I hope that you introduce Tina to Bette, because only she could surpass that bar. I love this story, thank you.
I just love this story as I do your others. I too had tears in my eyes reading the letter, so sweet. PPS!!
NAG you make me cry and I think you like that. My mom passed before I turned 3 and for some reason I kinda feel like Emma is a real person and I’m so glad for her and her sister. If your going with as many chapters as WOO you better let me know now as I will buy stock in the tissue company. Thank you, Md
[Okay, Okay…I know I said I wouldn’t but OMG this was just soooooooo good…I had to tell you] Nag, oh nag, I cried alllllllllllllll the way thru this chapter…and I haven’t stopped. I can’t remember now if you were one before, but now you definitely are: one of the very elite few authors on the site who have reduced me to a bawling baby. I mean that as the utmost compliment! Gawd! And you just had to mention the period thang! Gawd again! Reminded me of my own mom when I was just 11 I think…back in that day…well, there were no adhesive pads and you had to use a garter to attach the pad to…Mom showed me how to use it (before I needed it) and then told me, in a state of embarrassment (hers or mine, I’m not sure) and concern that she just wanted me to have the garter and know how to use it should something happen to her before it was my time. (I then tucked the garter away in my drawer until it was needed.) Gawd! It upset me then that she said that…and it still upsets me…but it’s a good memory too…cuz I know she loved me. *Completely wet face right now* … *Wiping, wiping* … The first words you ever *said* to me, nag, were “You Suck!” … Well, now I tell you: “You Suck!” :P :D pfffffffffffffffft Later!
NAG, I have such respect for you and your writing. That letter was powerful and very moving. This whole story is incredible, I don’t know why you thought we wouldn’t give it a chance…it’s beautiful!
Just THANK YOU
Wow – extremely moving and beautifully written.
Wow me too…sobbing all the way. Ok, I’m officially hooked!
It’s way too early for me to be crying this early in the morning! beautiful letter… how can you write these without crying yourself? :)PPS
Wow. What a moving letter and what an interesting premise. Thank you for coming up with this story, NAG. Please continue to unravel this tale. Thanks again! :>
That was beautiful. Now its time to meet Tina.
