The Long and Winding Road Chapter 37.
“Bette Porter – you are my heart’s salvation . You are the woman I love to the exclusion of all women -and men. My life is only complete when we are together. I know that we both have to work hard to regain the trust we lost but I vow that I am prepared for however tough it gets because I now know how much I need you and how my love for you has seeped through to my bones. Please Bette agree to become my wife again “
Tina looked up at Bette hoping for a huge smile or maybe a tear to indicate that she wanted their remarriage as much as Tina. All she saw was hurt and pain. Bette visibly gritted her teeth as the pain returned with more force.
Their friends looked at one another – all worried. Would Bette really refuse Tina’s proposal.
“Tina I love you so much – I want my life to be part of yours forever. But “
“BUT ? “ Tina almost burst into tears
“My waters have broken and the contractions that I thought were false obviously aren’t and they are about two minutes apart “

For several minutes no one spoke. Bette slumped back in her seat and concentrated on her breathing exercises that she had been taught in all her classes. For the first time in her life she didn’t think the answers were in books.
“Eh – is this is joke Porter ? “
Alice asked praying that it was but knowing that it wasn’t.
“No Al – my waters have broke but I have been having contractions all day. I thought they were false contractions like I have been having for a few days but these are very much the real deal “
“You have been having these all day — you never thought to mention it to me at any point ? “ Tina almost screamed.
Bette managed a smile at Tina who was still on her knee after her proposal.
“So T – I do love you and I have every intention of marrying you again but I kind of have other things dominating my thoughts at the moment “

How exciting! And The Brit comes to the rescue! Helena is actually nice in your story. It’s amusing how squeamish the girls are and how they didn’t want to touch Bette’s yoni under these circumstances. Pretty funny and ironic!!

They did a great job, but lets not forget to tie off the umbilical cord. Oh yeah Jobadge, the deliverary of the placenta should gross Alice, Laura, and mabe Shane out. LOL
I thought Lara was going to fall over as soon as she walked into the room. LOL My mom almost broke my dad’s hand while in labor with me. xD I had to come out via c-section. Thank god Bette didn’t need that.
Okay Ally, I guess I owe you this one. I said that you would never put a baby in any of your stories and you said if you did that I would have to apologize to you on the site. So here it is my friend—-I am on my knees begging for your forgiveness oh great author that you are and I am sorry that I ever doubted you. It will never happen again. Only one other thing to say—at least my challenge got you to write it. See I can be devious when the need arises. LMAO!!! Et voila! He’s here! Time for Helena to retrieve a couple of bottles of very good champagne from the cellar. For a second I thought you were going to send Tina off to the “boil water” detail. Isn’t that what happens to all hysterical spouses in this situation? Bette was very brave. Congratulations to all.

Ally, I read this first about 3:30 this morning and it was thrilling to read. Now I want to add that with Alice’s last statement…”Porter can never do anything like the rest of the population-it seems her son is the same.” That statement alone gives you a whole other story to write with that statement as your theme. Of course you must finsih this story first. But now you have another one possibly based in England and America. Am I right ladies?
