The Performance of a Lifetime – Chapter 13

“I want a second chance.” Jodi declared boldly, dropping any pretence.

It shouldn’t have caught her by surprise that Jodi wanted her back with the way the blue eyed artist had been chasing her for the past two days. Such a single minded focus should have made it obvious, but it hadn’t, not to Bette.

“Are you fucking crazy?” Bette spluttered, her arms uncrossing. “You are getting married tomorrow.”

Happy to at least have managed to break through the veil of polite indifference, Jodi forged on.

“I’m not so sure that’s true anymore.” She shrugged her shoulders.

“That doesn’t matter. I’m with someone now, Jodi.” Bette replied narrowing her eyes and crossing her arms again.

A quick flash of anger shone on blue eyes.

“Do ten minutes compare to two years?”

“Actually, yes they do.” Bette replied in a hard voice, bristling with the dismissal of her relationship with Tina. What was it with people and warping the length of her relationships to better fit the discussions? First Alice had done it and now Jodi.

“I don’t believe that.” Jodi shook her head slowly, her eyes never leaving the dark ones in front of her, searching for a weakness she could explore. “Does she make you scream out in pleasure? Does she fuck you all night until you feel like you might pass out from coming so many times?”

Bette rolled her eyes at Jodi and sighed exasperated.

“Give me some credit. Do you really think I’m going to compare performances in bed?”

Jodi almost opened her mouth to pursue the subject but there was something in Bette’s appearance that warned her not to. Gone was the tension her mentioning of their sex life always had caused in Bette, in its place there was a peaceful aura, almost a glow that radiated from the brunette. Jodi had a feeling she might not like the answer she would get.

    Instead Jodi quickly changed tracks.

“Do you remember the artist’s dinners we used to throw together?” The artist said wishfully.

“Yes.” Bette said. Her back relaxed as she leaned back a fraction, a small smile forming on her lips as she indeed remembered the intellectual exchanges, the heated debates on the meaning of selected pieces over good wine and gourmet dinners. She missed those dinners that would stretch long into the night.

    1. wow tina signing to bette and bette ran off cuz tina just completely overwhelmed her i hope!! someone needs to cool porter down and you should leave cliffhangers like this! love this story and how it’s unfolding!! :)PPS

    2. Gotta love Jenny’s running commentary…Way to go Tina, U r my hero…Janet give Jodi the old heave ho, that’s not love u feel, its martyrdom!!! Kick her to the side & find u some real lover!!! Great story. Don’t be gone too long.

    3. Lord please don’t let Bette go back to Jodi. Jesus, that would be horrible. I think she has fallen in love with Tina, so why the hell did she leave the room. She should have gone straight to Tina and kissed her till her toes curled. Love this story just like everyone else. Please let them stay together and tell Jodi to go soak her head and step off b—-. PPS

    4. Jenny finally said something I agree with…talk about dramatic intensity! Whew! Bette better be running because she is feeling so vulnerable. Ahh, the rose was such a sweet touch. Bette needs to step up now…and seal the deal. We need more wooing…PPS!

    5. i think jenny and jodi should run away together, they deserve each other LOL…this was brilliant, i hope Tina will be there for Bette…post soon

    6. Bette, where you going? Come back! Loved this, Sabina. Tina can woo me any day of the week … oh and Jenny is the funniest! Love how you’re using her in this story. Poor Janet, though. Looks like Jodi is just bad news. Can’t wait to see what transpires between our two lovebirds in the rain.

    7. Oh man, that was kind of mean leaving us wondering why Bette went out into the rain. Then you had Tina following her and we don’t know what happened. I sure hope that Tina will find Bette and they will be able to work out what each is feeling. Way to go Tina, go fight for your woman.

    8. I hope Tina is going to Bette and not misunderstanding. Bette doesn’t handle her emotions well in the best of circumstances, but it is time to quit running and grab onto the love Tina has for her with all her strength. AMAZING!!!!

    9. way to go Kennard.. Tina picked a perfect song to woo Bette. Great chapter and thank you Sabina, with so much anticipation on your next post..

    10. Wow… this was another great chapter, sabina. Jodi’s too late. I’m sure Bette misses the artists’ dinners, but Jodi isn’t an essential part of that… The song, the rose, Tina’s upping the stakes, but I don’t think she realizes that she’s already won. Please post soon, sabina. thanks

    11. LMAO! Jenny is so great in this story! I absolutely love this story and how you bring the drama to it. Please don’t leave us hanging too long!

    12. No offense, kinda agree with Jenny there. Not to include the scene that will reveal itself outside in the rain. Plus, I must admit, kinda like “Hero” too.

    13. I’m with Seahurst and her comment!… LOVE this story, especially with dramatic exits and cliffies like this one! But that means that you can’t leave us hang for too long… So, please please post soon. I’m looking forward to Tina catching up with Bette in the rain… Trusting you to make it all just fine for B&T. Somehow I have the feeling that for Bette, it’s less about not wanting to risk her heart again with Jodi, but more about having lost her heart to someone else, with absolutely no way nor will not get it back…;) Go Tina! Sweep her off her feet! And don’t worry, you had her at “It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Great great story Sabina, please post soon! ;)

    14. gaah, you just made me realize I’m a total sap, that was romantic and beautiful :))) Go get your woman Tina! On a sidenote, Jodi doesn’t deserve Janet who seems to be a sweetheart and Jenn cracks me up. LOL!

    15. wow, who is better than you to write such romantic scenes, I loved everything about this chapter and I know that the second one is going to be mind blowing as it follows their beautiful performance. 22. ok whats up? where ya hiding?! we can’t have Bette outside in the rain all by herself…even though we know Tina’s heading in that direction…these guys are at a stand still one in the rain and one on the way…lol…….excellent my dear!!!
