The Pussy Club
”Damn, you are so fucking weird. Higher, I guess.”
”You know I lost every pence I was supposed to make tonight and then some.” Helena crosses her arms and shakes her head. ”Mind if I put down the window?”
”Go ahead. Are you going to be sick?”
”No, it’s not that. I get these feelings sometimes that hands are closing around my throat. The wind makes them blow away.”
”I’ve got three hundred dollars cash. What’d you need it for?”
”I say we go to The Pussy Club just up here past the steak house on Sunset.” She grins mischievously and looks across at me. ”I’ve got forty bucks to buy you a fabulous lap dance. It’s just up here. Yeah? Take the next left.”
The Pussy Club – Bette
I wonder if those tweedy lesbians back east have ever gotten over themselves? I suspect now that they can all charge off to the great Commonwealth of Massachusetts and get married they’ve come around to the relaxing virtues of lap dances for their Bachelorette parties. Helena and I take a table away from the stage. We’re not interested in the pole dancing performers although they’re interesting to look at. I believe we are in agreement. We are looking tonight for a more personalized service.
”Do you have a type, Bette? I really can’t decide about you.” Helena says as we settle ourselves in for an hour or so. She wrinkles her brow at me and looks bemused as a beautiful girl wearing about a handkerchief over her crotch leans in to take our orders.
There’s the thing about places like this, no one expects you to look into their eyes. In fact, no one in here wants to look into yours either. No, this place, these women, all these dollars none of it is about eyes. I lean back and take in the beautifully formed breasts on the woman in front of me. Sequins glisten over her nipples.
”Helena, what are you drinking?”
”Honestly? A red wine and a tall glass of water, I think. Yes. That’s what I’ll have.”
”This is going to sound crazy I know, but do you have any root beer and vanilla ice cream?” I look up and down the dancer’s body.

Amazing as always,10 stars.
I remember that pot-smoking scene w/Jodi and Tom. I thought when Bette inhaled the smoke that Jodi exhaled was one of the most erotic scenes I’ve seen. It was so freakin’ hot. Bette’s outspoken comments and thoughts can be attributed to her baked state. Hilarious scenes w/Helena and the strippers. Very funny and outrageous. You keep outdoing yourself, Ms. BB
I love your take on things. Thank you.
Helena to off Jenny for Bette – hilarious! I agree, the pot scene with Jodi was hot.
Helena and Bette are are similar – nice to see them work thing out.
It was really fun! I liked it!
I have to admit to smoking pot scene was hot (although it would have been better if not with Jodie) I know, I know. will have to wait ;)
the scene is like Helena and Bette… -God! :D. Bette asked her about Jenny was just sensational.
whether, now Bette notices the signs, or later? and they will have an affair …
I’m looking forward to the sequel.
Alice’s influence as Helena’s room mate is rubbing off on her. It was hilarious seeing Bette getting her pleasure interrupted by Helena. Tina starting to wear Bette’s rings again? Bring it on BB!
Very funny, loved it
Yes! love it BB!
Does she ever talk on the phone? Of course, not. God, how does that work?
At the time the episode was filmed, it worked with teletype devices for the deaf, abbreviated TTY or TDY. These were the same high-speed morse signals used on WW2 military teletypes, but (by 1984) available in highly portable electronic models about the size and weight of (oh how this dates me) portable typewriters – which they closely resembled. The telephone handset would be put in rubber cups where the typewriter roller would be, and messages were typed out on the keyboard, which the TTY would convert to highspeed beeping code that would be picked up by the TTY at the other end of the phone call, where the typed words would appear on one of the Times Square type moving message displays (and, on deluxe models, also printed on adding machine paper).
That was then. Now there are desktop and laptop computers with cameras, so video-phone conversations between two people who are on-screen doing Sign Language directly with each other is possible. In fact several of my deaf friends gave up their telephone lines altogether, dumped their TTYs, and now communicate entirely over the internet with cameras.
