The Sound Track of Our Lives

After what seemed like an eternity to Bette Tina emerged from the bedroom looking triumphant. Tina walked to the stereo, put in the cassette and pushed play.

She turned to face Bette, with a sheepish smile on her face. The Pretenders started to blare into the small apartment. Tina closed her eyes and took a step in Bette’s direction. She stopped about a foot from Bette, opened her eyes, and started to dance. Tina started to sing along with Chrissie Hynde:

    Don’t get me wrong

Tina slowly started to work in Bette’s direction.
If I’m looking kind of dazzled

She raised an eyebrow in Bette’s direction. Bette smiled and looked on in fascination.
    I see neon lights
    Whenever you walk by

    Don’t get me wrong

    Tina takes Bette’s hand.
If you say hello and I take a ride
Upon a sea where the mystic moon
Is playing havoc with the tide
    Don’t get me wrong

Tina starts to dance around Bette careful not to touch her but close enough to feel Bette’s temperature rise slightly.
    Don’t get me wrong
    If I’m acting so distracted

Tina now behind Bette leaned over to sing into Bette’s ear, sending a shiver up Bette’s spine.
    I’m thinking about the fireworks
That go off when you smile

    Don’t get me wrong

Tina once again takes Bette’s hand and spins her around so that they are facing each other.
If I split like light refracted
    I’m only off to wander
    Across a moonlit mile
Tina smiles at Bette and does a little shimmy slowly making her way down then back up. All the while keep eye contact with Bette.
    Once in awhile
    Two people meet
    Seemingly for no reason
They just pass on the street
    Suddenly thunder, showers everywhere
Who can explain the thunder and rain
But there’s something in the air

Tina pushes her hips against Bette’s and puts a hand around her waist to encourage Bette to move with her.

“Tina” Bette manages; her voice heavy.
Tina puts a finger to Bette’s lips and whispers, “Dance with me Bette.”
Bette nods her head and starts to let the music and Tina guide her body.

    Don’t get me wrong
If I come and go like fashion
    I might be great tomorrow
    But hopeless yesterday

    Don’t get me wrong
If I fall in the ‘mode of passion’

Tina softly kisses Bette’s exposed neck. Bette moans unable to contain herself.

    It might be unbelievable
But let’s not say so long
    It might just be fantastic
    Don’t get me wrong

Tina moves her other hand up to Bette’s face to take possession of it. She gingerly kisses Bette, while her other hand drops lower moving from Bette’s waist to her rear.

“Tina, you are driving me crazy.”

“How do you think I feel?” Tina covers Bette’s mouth with her own, pushing her tongue into Bette’s mouth. Taking all Bette could give her and demanding more.

    *******

Bette stops her story, her eyes far away still very much in that first night so very long ago.

“You are going to stop there?” Charlotte smiles,” That is quite a story, Bette.”

“Yes. Yes it is.” Bette smiles her eyes focusing on her companion.

    1. i liked you story..Bette need to talk to Tina and open her heart to her.. been away is not the right choice to make Tina need to know she is still wanted and loved…it takes time to hold captive and make us to comment but dosent mean we didnt like…ok please go on and post soon thanks :o)

    2. If Bette took a job singing in a band Tina would have a heart attack. Bette should try it on the weekend. and still work at the CAC. Maybe Tina would wake up thanks
